So, apparently my attempt to get some sort of focus group reactions to petscure was considered spamming.

I hate to break it to you CIH'ers. But, you're all selling products by posting here. Every single posting here helps to sell products. You're helping to create what is called aided or unaided recall of products matching with commercials.

This entire website is selling products. People who work for companies intentionally post here to promote their products and thus their salaries.

It's totally obscene that I'm trying to not be part of Obama's socialism. Yet, I got only one somewhat productive response before being deleted, apparently for mentioning a product, which every posting on this entire site does.

Companies love this site because you are helping to promote their products.

Well, we do have a 'recommended/not recommended' section where we REALLY push our opinions about 'product quality' and 'experience', sure. Hopefully folks take a moment to look there.

Then again, advertisements being what they are either draw customers in, or push them away. Yea, we yap about the ads.
We also will combine crap with crap (bad commercial with bad product) - which doesn't sell.
If we LIKE a commercial, we MIGHT help the seller - and, well, good for them! Especially if their product is good.

We sold ya any OxyClean, lately?

Or did YOU sell any here?

I'm thinking you're confused.

Yeah, because when I saw a site called commercialsihate.com, the first thing that came to my mind was "as if I didn't have enough people trying to sell me something" Wacko

By the thread starter's logic we're all chronic and habitual liars if we've ever lied once in our lives LOL

Bitter, much?

Whatever gave you the idea that we would be interested in furthering your cause, in the first place?

I'm still not really sure what you apparently tried to do and failed at and are now angry over, but I take it you're one of those "all publicity is good publicity" people. Too bad those of us who post here refuse to buy products from ads they hate. Clearly at CIH, publicity does not equal sales, not by a long shot.

Earlier today, BrookPark (first post, btw) started a thread where she was looking for constructive feedback on something.

It was deleted.

Brookl Park, you were asking what we thought of an ad campaign that you admitted couldn't get any support from ad agencies.  My comment was that Sale and Pelletier, two gold-medal skaters (from when, 2002?) may not be on anyone's radar anymore (certainly not on mine, but then I'm not really following skating).

Since you mentioned them and they are Canadian, and your English syntax wasn't all that great, I was wondering if you are from a French-speaking part of Canada.

Regardless, we are not in the business of helping people create advertising campaigns.  We've talked about the possibility of advertising companies and/or corporations checking out what we have to say.  But there's a difference between that and us actively working for you!

Any advertiser can come here and read what we hate about commercials, then write their own ads to avoid what we hate about them.  (Apparently some do, since we don't rip their ads....)

Yes indeedy, just helping them out with truth in advertising.... Big%20smile

Actually, if we hate an ad, we won't buy the product at all.  And, if other people read our criticisms, they are more likely to agree with us and not buy the product either.  I hate to break it to you BrookPark, but most advertisers are blind to their own arrogance with the ads they choose to inflict on what they see as "stupid" customers.  We just see that more than you....

Uhh, no. I don't follow your logic. I, for one, won't buy anything or support a company with a really annoying as f**k commercial. I would imagine others here would follow a similar route. Commercials that are annoying as hell don't make me say 'OMG I SHOULD GO OUT AND TRY THAT'. They make me want to stay far away. So I don't see how that supports ones business at all.

And lol @ "socialism".

Or maybe BrookPark should get out from behind his/her computer and put a little sweat equity into his/her research. It's hard to believe such a learned individual would want to taint his/her statistical findings with responses from advertiser-led sheep like us anyway.

It was spamming actually. I didn't need to consider very long.
If you want to have a focus group, have a focus group.
This is a website about bad advertising.
If you're here to complain about bad advertising - welcome.
If you're here to promote a product or service, please use another outlet. There are many available to you.
You may also consider buying ad space here if you're dead set on promoting to this particular group of members.

The quality of the writing was so poor, and the storyline itself?  A parody of Love Story?  That movie is from 1970.  What's the point of parodying a forty-year-old movie if you're shooting for the younger demographic?

I think Brook Park is trying to break into advertising, yet he/she thinks we're going to buy that he/she is a veteran.

I kind of liked the soap opera angle, though.
