There's an ad for Ross for Fathers' Day.  The mom asks the daughter, "What should we get Dad for Fathers' Day?"  The little girl says, "Short."  The Mom says, "Okay."  Then the little girl starts reciting a list of other things Dad needs.  The mother says, "I think we're going to Ross."  The kid keeps going with the list, and the mother says, "We're definitely going to Ross."

What gets me is, and this is difficult to explain in writing, at the end she talks in such a low register (for her) that you can hear the little gutteral "dots" in her vocal cords (uh.uh.uh.uh).  There was a cat food commercial a while back where the woman was talking about her cat, Rufus, and she did the same thing:  "Rufu.u.u.u.s."

Does anyone understand what I'm talking about and/or have a better way of explaining what I mean?

I've seen this one, but I've been more distracted with the irritating little girl who won't shut up and the fact that the mom has crows feet by her eyes.  Don't get me wrong its fine to show age, but in  a society so anti aging its odd to actually see a mom with wrinkles on her face in a commercial, especially one with such a young kid Confused

I'll have to pay closer attention to her voice, there are just plenty of things to hate about this one.

this is a trend that has bugged me for ages!! That gravely edge on the end of each phrase. the other annoying trend is that dorky, whispery voice used for anything to do with babies and children, take some diction classes MORONS!!Angry

I find the child's precociousness annoying.  8 years old, and already a good consumer.

The Ross ad I hate more is the one with the guy practicing his golf swing everywhere he goes---at home, at a business meeting, and in a restaurant.  I've seen this guy in other commercials, and something about his face makes me want to ram it with my fist.

This gravelly voice thing I call "BURP VOICE".   It very often sounds like the woman (and it's ALWAYS a woman) is burping while talking.  I find nothing sexy or attractive about it.

Yeah, Thor.  And how in each situation, he's wearing a golf shirt, while the voice-over is saying, "at the office," and "at dinner."  Yeah, because while everyone else is in a suit and tie or semi-formalwear, you're going to wear a polo shirt.  They should also take the wife out of that frame, because she wouldn't be there with him!

The soft gravelly voiced woman on the new Citracal ad is the same one who used to sit on the floor with her bowl of Special K and licking on the spoon. What get me is, as with her old SK ads, she's still not wearin' a pair of shoes (must be a foot fetish thing on her part...).

Alright I've re-seen this one and I agree, they way she ends  "We're definitely going to Ross" is like sandpaper. Sad too, she probably thinks she has a velvety voice, much the opposite.

They are using that same woman (whom I think might really be a man) on a DIFFERENT commercial?  Why, because we weren't suffering enough with her in ONE? YIKES!

Why would anyone be licking a cereal spoon?  It's not really the kind of food you'd lick off of a spoon.

Oh, maybe they were trying to make it look as good as ice cream.  Well, it's not.

Or the ad execs' part.
Seriously, I think there have been enough 'barefoot women' depicted in ads, especially for anything 'healthy', over the last 10-20 years, that 'bare feet' could be considered an advertising cliche.
