I just saw the White Diamonds perfume ad with Elizabeth Taylor. What is that ad, 25 years old? Liz is up and walking around, so it's got to be REALLY old. Can't they get a new spokesperson?
What does Dr Traci have to say about it? http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Dr-Traci

Lol, I know, I saw it myself the other day for the first time in awhile.  I can't believe they're still playing it, either.  I'm 26 now and I remember seeing that ad when I was a small child.  You have to figure it's been airing for at least 20 years by now.

I saw the sledding santa norelco ad. Some are ok to have around forever. But yeah... the liz taylor one is so dated and weird.
it was weird when it was made.
Beautiful woman as she was, it was still 'forced' and seemed awkward.

The fact that Burt Reynolds has a cameo in the commercial is hilarious in itself.  He may have been popular back when it was made but today his onscreen image alone is enough to make me bust a gut laughing.  Dude's washed up!

That commercial has been around since forever, I think it'll be played till the end of the world.

She's super young in this one.
One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off

White Diamonds isn't 25 years old. It was introduced in 1991, a year before another well known love-or-hate-it perfume (Thierry Mugler's Angel), and I remember seeing 15th Anniversary bottles at Macy's in 2006.

Still, the fact that it's had the same commercial since 1991 gives you the creeps. Angry

Here's a funny White Diamonds story: A friend of mine, who now works for a competitor, used to sell White Diamonds for Elizabeth Arden Fragrances (the manufacturer of the scent), along with Elizabeth Taylor's other scent, Passion, in the late 1990s. She liked Passion, but couldn't stand White Diamonds... it turned nasty on her skin, and she had to use a special spritzing technique when putting it on the cards to avoid skin contact. Eventually, she jumped ship for BPI and Issey Miyake/Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances, and all was well.

By the way, here's the commercial. Watch it, if you dare...

Where's the commercial with Burt Reynolds? He was in one where he was the guy she gave her earring to.

Speaking of White Diamonds, it's the best-selling celebrity perfume of all time, selling over $67 million of celebrity-endorsed stink water in the US last year. It beat out scents like Sean John's Unforgivable (produced by Estee Lauder's Aramis division), J Lo's Glow (a Coty product), Derek Jeter/Avon's Driven, and Britney's Fantasy and Curious (produced by Elizabeth Arden, like White Diamonds).

Quote The Chicago-based Euromonitor International list ran as follows: 1. Elizabeth Taylor - White Diamonds ($67.2m); 2. Sean Diddy Combs - Unforgivable ($48.5m); 3. Celine Dion ($26.4m); 4. Sarah Jessica Parker - Lovely ($25.7m); 5. Derek Jeter - Driven ($24.1m); 6. Antonio Banderas - Diavolo ($18.8m); 7. J.Lo - Glo ($18.5m); 8. Britney Spears - Curious ($14.3m); 9. Britney Spears - Fantasy ($10.1 million).

I'm very surprised that none of Paris Hilton's perfumes made the list, or Jessica Simpson's Fancy for that matter.

Britney's Curious perfume is pretty nice, but I don't think I could buy it, just on principle, lol.

Ick! I HATE White Diamonds! Hubby made the mistake of buying it for me a few years ago and it smelled so rank I never wore it again:-P My favorite is Estee Lauder's Pleasures (the dark pinky type bottle).
