The best is that she died peacefully, and with you right there with her.

Not that that's much of a "best", but you'll be glad it happened that way.

Worst - I just found out that a former co-worker of mine who I really liked died. We're all sad and in shock here at the office today. There's a noticeable pall here.

I have no Best as of right now. Cry

Best:  Got the cutest pic of our grandson, Ethan, on his plush horsey that we got him for his 2nd birthday!

Worst:  FEMA paperwork.  We were hit with 2 floods from Irene and Lee.  We lost everything we had in storage plus our landscape was severely damaged.  We were evacuated for 2 days as well with Irene.  We're ok, thank God.  A lot of people had it a lot worse than we did.

Went to McDonalds for lunch, fully expecting to win a million on Monopoly.

On the medium size box of fries it says: "Want game pieces? Get large fries."  WTF!

A drunk driver ran up the bank in my yard, landed in an 80 year old, 20 ft tall crape myrtle tree, took out power for 4 miles down my road for 12 hours, and this morning my stove & and over-the-stove microwave are dead Dead  Yes, I've checked the breakers, about 5 times, called a repairman to see what he thinks, he said massive power surge when line was hit (transformer is on my pole) just zapped them, happens all the time.

He said to add these appliance to my yard & tree damage (and clean-up) for the driver (or his insurance to pay for).  My insurance says they don't think his insurance will pay.  Well, I know power going out happens all the time, but THIS time, the driver caused it and it zapped my appliances.  I'm checking with his insurance.

Anybody had anything like this happen to them?
A new study finds that people who are chipper & happy live longer. Which is surprising because people who aren't chipper & happy want to kill people who are always chipper & happy. David Letterman

That sucks, bwestfall.  It sounds like there might eventually be a battle between your homeowner's and the driver's car insurance---that is, when you file a claim against your homeowner's insurance after his car insurance refuses to pay.  It's at that point when your insurance will really have a financial stake in the matter, and may sue his car insurance company.  Just my guess.

Damn... that sucks! Sometimes we get "brown outs" -   the power isn't entirely out but the lights are so dim they may as well be. THAT has caused us to lose a lot of appliacnes - microwaves, fax machines. I think we've put in a claim or two but we never lost a major appliance like a stove.

Good luck.

My main circuit blew a few years ago, as my A/C was running.  The A/C unit out back started making a horrendous clicking noise as it kept trying to turn back on.  Luckily, the unit has an emergency switch, which I was able to turn off.  I replaced the main, and the unit was fine.  Thank God I was home when it happened.

Bwest, as you know here in Virginia, there is uninsured motorist. Pay $500(?) and you can legally drive. He may have been a habitual drunk driver and that's all he could get.
You may be able to sue him personally after you hire an attorney. Either way it looks time consuming and you'll be without a stove for awhile.

Best - got our new printer, and I can now print documents 'wirelessly' from my computer. It also prints quite nicely as far as quality is concerned. I could have done without the touch screen, but for $89 instead of $300+ you can't be too picky.

Worst - my workout at the gym was dissapointing. I'm on a deload (Lowering the weight and intensity to allow for recuperation) because I've had an odd pain in my forearm, like a shin splint type thing, neither muscle nor bone. Nothing actually went wrong, but I just really really hate that I couldn't push myself harder.

Best:  I got to play hero to my neighbress, whose printer hasn't been taking commands from the computer for two weeks now.  I plugged it in.

Worst:  Mickey the cat got up into the cabinet where the cat treats are, and sent the glass jar of cat treats bouncing down onto the counter and crashing down onto the ceramic tile floor.  Treats and shards of glass everywhere.

She thought to check to see if it was plugged in, but she only checked the connection at the back of the printer, not the one that goes into the computer.  You'd think that with 7 people there (3 between 20 and 37), someone would've thought of that.  Not a very tech family, though they all have fancy phones.

Best: bought a father's day card for my grandfather. Smile

Worst: my bank account got overdrawn because I didn't realize an automatic payment goes out on the 12th.

I always say that waiting for payday while attempting to prevent an overdraft is like a game out of The Price is Right. And I just lost. Cry Embarrassed

This is from a few days ago...

WORST: I was flying my  large R/C Cessna 182 airplane, and crashed it ***HARD***, causing breakage to the main wing and bending the propeller shaft.

BEST: The repairs went very quickly, because I had a spare wing & front cowling that I was able to harvest from my "parts" plane -- an identical Cessna 182; the propeller shaft was rebent so it is now straight {not "heterosexual"!!!
