FEMA: Federal Emergency Management Agency. What exactly was your emergency? We had major flooding in February 1996. Our Governor declared a state of emergency and activated  the National Guard. My MEDEVAC unit equipped with aerial hoists was rescuing people in life or death situations and evacuating people and if possible pets stranded by flood water. Four FEMA agents unexpectedly appeared and demanded an aerial inspection tour. We explained we were rather busy but would try to accommodate them. I was dealing exclusively with state emergency management. While on their sight seeing tour a call came in for a family of 7 stranded. The FEMA "tour" helicopter was closest so I dispatched it. They off loaded the FEMA A-holes and loaded the family plus their dog flying them to a shelter. They recovered the FEMAs in less than an hour who were livid! Oh well. If they wanted an aircraft at their disposal they should have flown into SEATAC Washington and got one out of Fort Lewis (active army) which we would have re-fueled and serviced if necessary. You are correct. Ignorant f*cking idiots who think they are agents of the PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC of the UNITED STATES of AMERIKA. That is a slam against communist nations not the DNC. Thanks Sarge, the national flood insurance group is part of FEMA. I refuse to give them the satisfaction of taking my money only to deny a claim in the future.

Hey Reg, have you ever been on this waterslide?

What people won't do for the almighty dollar, I blame the park and the designer and operators of this thrill ride.

Senator's son, 10, was 'decapitated when he was thrown through raft harness and into safety net before plunging 50ft down the world's tallest waterslide'

  • Caleb Thomas Schwab, 10, died Sunday while riding an 168-foot-tall waterslide at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City, Kansas
  • Witnesses say he was decapitated after he flew off raft and hit safety nets
  • On Monday, medical examiners were scheduled to conduct an autopsy on the body of Caleb, the son of Kansas state Congressman Scott Schwab
  • Two female passengers on the ride, believed to have been sat behind him suffered facial injuries as Caleb was ejected from his seat at the front
  • A source told Dailymail.com that velcro straps on the ride were apparently not working properly on the day of the tragedy
  • The ride used to have an age restriction of 14 - something that was later scrapped in favor of a minimum total weight requirement per raft
  • Police say they are not investigating his death as a criminal incident
  • On Sunday, officials said ' We honestly don't know what's happened'

Am. Fam. is going to want us to take them on for another year next month.

Progressive and their arrogant box is now claiming to be able to save people like me up to $600 a year which is total bullsh*t and I just proved it to myself.
The auto insurance is quite a bit cheaper....2 autos for $310 a year, Am Fam is charging us $873.12

The home insurance from Progressive is almost double what we pay now...$1074.96 VS  $579.96

It is all a huge ripoff of the consumer....Angry

The worker bee's were at my door at about 1:00, "we left cigarettes here and some other stuff."

I told them that their boss had already picked up after them...the dude was a little snarky like I stole their stuff or threw it away. "We can go buy more"...check with Jim, dickheads.

I get the 3rd or 4th call from this extended warranty company for autos...I sit through a couple of minutes of preliminary questions. What year, make, model is your vehicle...how many miles do you have on it?  Finally, I find my opening to say, "have you heard of the 'do not call' list?" And "I'm reporting you to the FCC"  He was not used to hearing that, because I asked him if he heard me...he paused and said "Yes sir, I hear you" If I can scare these f*ckers even just a little bit, I feel like I am doing my job as a consumer.

The last knock on the door was not really that bad...it's the part for the boat. It sure is a big box, I haven't opened it yet. I hope it's the right part.

I did find a better number for reporting problems in the phone book.

The worker bees were supposed to be here yesterday, I close that side of the house off for no reason.

I don't think my insurance agent gives a sh*t if we stay with them or not.

My e-mail to Am Fam and her snarky response.

    Greetings,

If I may review our time with you...No claims, no tickets, an over 50 couple with excellent credit scores.
Our vehicles are 10 years old, which would make it less expensive for you to replace them.

How do you justify another rate increase? I have gotten some quotes, why should we stay with you when we can save a substantial amount of money? No phone calls please.
    Good Morning Kevin,

Rate increases occur with every company and are based on losses that those companies have incurred. While your vehicles are almost 10 years old and you are correct, less to replace in a total loss, a large percentage of losses are not total losses, but partial losses (repairs). That cost is the same for the most part from a 10 year old vehicle compared to a 5 year old vehicle, and the cost to repair vehicles goes up on a yearly basis.

I have been with American Family since 1988 and we have always had the same auto policy. This past June, we came out with a New Auto policy, that gives us more flexibility with the coverages and the coverages desired. If you would like, I could work up a comparison quote with our new product.

Please let me know if this is something you would like me to do,

If she wants us to stay, she will do what I put in bold print without me requesting it!   ARROGANT BITCH!
    SHE IS FUGLY TOO!

The worker bees were here for the final time this morning, removing the form work for the 'bathtub', the area where I/we squeeze under the center support beam. I need to get down there and look around.

There will still need to be a final walk/crawl through by the management companies involved and the City Building Inspector. The local surveyors will need to issue us a new Elevation Certificate.

The document that triggered this FEMA nightmare.

I think there will still be problems, the temp used to be constant down there. It now mirrors the outdoor temperature. I will know for sure, in a month or so, as things cool down up here.

aka ron... if your vehicles are 10 years old and you want your insurance bill to drop big time.... DROP THE COLLISION AND COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE.

    You're wasting your money.

All you need is liability (property and bodily) and PIP. If you're really nervous about it, add on uninsured motorist coverage.

If you and your wife are safe drivers, dont speed or drive recklessly or carelessly, chances are great that you aren't going to cause a wreck or run into something.

Drop the unnecessary coverage and your bill will go down big time.

    IMO.

Basically, she says that because they insure so many stupid ass drivers, that's why I have to pay more.
FVCK THEM!  I can move the car insurance but I may stay with them for the home insurance. They are the least expensive that I could find.

Let's say that one time in ten years you or Mrs aka ron back into a post or scrape a guardrail, etc, etc.

You take it to a body shop and pay a few hundred out of pocket to have it repaired. Then take the amount of your annual premium devoted to collision and comprehensive and compare what that cost you over ten years as opposed to paying for one repair job.

It would probably be several times the amount of the repair cost.

    That's exactly what they do.

Went to Sav-a-lot for my weekly shopping, only to find that they re-arranged the whole store.  Pretty much stuck to my list (4 things) because I had to play hide-n-seek to find them, which ticked me off.  I'm betting the sales drop for a few weeks because other people can't find what they look for either... Thumbs Down

I hit one while backing into a parking spot at work last week.  It was dark and I couldn't see it.  No damage, but it pissed me off.

Mama, is not happy with me.

She thinks we may need 'collision' insurance.

That may be true, within the last 15 years.

The youngest stepdaughter let a boyfriend sink the truck in a local lake.

My truck hit a deer on then US 41, I never filed a claim.

My wife killed a deer in 2012, tore a huge hunk of Edge front end off.

It is wild animals that cause our problems.
No matter how well we drive, these things are  'no fault'

Still probably cheaper to pay the occasional odd repair bill than fork over hundreds extra per year to an insurance company.

But hey, to each their own.

Just recently, two deer walked right out in front of me on the way to work.  I was only going maybe 20mph, and the deer pivoted around quickly enough.  Had they not, I would've hit them.  I wouldn't like that.

Lotta deer around here.  One was on my neighbor's lawn just this morning.  Stopped the car to watch it.  He didn't care.

Get one of those steel grills welded onto the front of your car.  Should be cheaper than front end repairs...  Wink

    What pisses you off?

Those stupid giant-ass extended cab pickup trucks they make nowadays!!!

I came out of Walmart this afternoon and this huge Toyota that was the size of a friggin oil tanker had parked (or docked) next to me. I had to back up a thousand feet just to see if another car was coming!!!

It's a menace to society, dammit!!!!

Great news guys.... With the Air Hawk, flat balls are no longer a problem!!!
