In this Subaru commercial the guy says they were hit because someone jumped the median.  Now, I'm no engineer, but wouldn't the driver's side have taken the worst of it, not the passenger side?  Something bothered me about that commercial until I finally noticed that.  Picky I suppose.

Looks like a head on collision.  My question is, why is his beloved (totaled) Subaru sitting in his driveway?

That will buff right out!

The one in his driveway is a different car. Look at the wheels. It might even be a different color. That first car was a total. The one in his driveway is presumably the replacement.

It's impossible to say for certain because of the weird things cars/objects do in high speed collisions.

The car could have come across the median just far enough ahead of he Subaru and at just the right angle so that the passenger side of the front end received the initial impact, or it could've been because of the direction the Subaru began to spin after the initial impact, etc, etc, etc....

Good question, though.

Yeah, but no! The dumb ass wrecker driver dropped the car off at the guys house! They would normally take it to their yard until the insurance company determines if it is a total loss.  LOOK!

The drama!  The little girl says "Dad!"  And the new car magically appears...In his driveway!

I think what we're supposed to assume is that the old, wrecked Subaru is in his imagination.

He's recalling/remembering the way it looked after the accident.

In TV talk, they call it a "having a flashback".

Then, when his little girl yells "Daddy!!!" and comes running out of the garage, he snaps back into the present where his new replacement Subaru is sitting there.

That's the way I took it, too.
But, the reason I thought the passenger side took the brunt of it is because even though there's front end damage, the passenger side wheel is all crushed in.  (Can't really see the other side, though.)  Doesn't really matter, does it?  I'm just obsessing about things because I'm BORED, BORED, BORED!!!  I'm going to have a total meltdown if I can't get out this house.  Think I'll just go drive around.

In your Subaru??? Wink

On another note, and this is for the dumbass in the ad, but it's sound advice for anyone else who drives on divided highways, interstates and expressways, etc...

Dude... If you hadn't been driving in the left hand (fast) lane to begin with, your chances of having avoided the accident altogether would've been much better. If you drive in the slower outside lane and keep your speed down to around 55 - 60 mph, you increase the distance between yourself and oncoming traffic, some of which occasionally comes across the median, as well as the amount of reaction time you have to swerve out of the way.

Plus, having the emergency lane and shoulder on your right, gives you an escape lane to swerve into.

Let some other impatient moron take the impact of the impatient moron who lost control and came across the median.

Sure, you might get to where you're going a few minutes later, but at least you'll get there.

In one piece.

Yeah, I guess I'm better off than a lot of people.  I do have a house and yard to roam around in where some people are stuck in teeny tiny apartments.  And at least I feel good.  Sorry to be a complainer.  Brave face!!! Big smile  Stay well everyone.

I feel like I have made many friends on this forum, some are still here and others are not.  I'll bet the weather is starting to get pretty nice in Kentucky. We are expecting a high of 50 here today.

It's only been in the 50's and 60's and rainy.  But it's supposed to get pretty warm this coming weekend.  Around 80 I think.  Hope the sun finally comes out...been awhile!

Geez, that hot already in Florida?  I guess July and August you just never go outside.  Or stay in your pool!

It varies from year to year down here. And though high temp spells early in the season have become more common in recent years, they're still considered above average and it usually cools back down a little after a few days.

We could possibly be back in the 70's again later next week, or at least in the 80's.

Fortunately the humidity hasn't arrived yet.

And you are mostly correct about July and August. Ouch Dead

I came to the internet to see if anyone else thought that! I mean unless he was in the U.K. I couldn’t understand how a car jumped the median and hit the other side of the car. Not the whole front in but the right side? Instead of the left? I can’t believe they’d make that kind of mistake😂

When I say the whole front I mean the brunt and angle should be on the left side.. though much of the front is crashed in, it seemed to have skipped part of the right side. Which doesn’t make any sense to me.

Lots of people come here because of one commercial.

Stick around and become part of our little group.

We might piss you off sometime, but we're basically nice folks.

I'm thinking he swerved to the left when he saw the car coming at him, causing the passenger side to sustain more of the impact.

But if there's a median, they were probably on a highway. And if the other guy was able to jump the median, there must have been some speed involved. But even if they were both going 30mph, that's a 60mph impact. Seems there'd be more damage. Msybe even some deathage.
