Wow! Back to school BS already? "Free same day pickup?" I think they covered just about every race, color, creed and sexual orientation. You never know about that last one/ |

Ok, pause at 00:00. Why did they omit the US Bank Tower from the Los Angeles skyline? I need an explanation! The song is surprisingly tolerable compared the usual crap blasting across the airwaves!
Okay this tune is really starting to annoy me! |

They were ALREADY putting out back to school stuff on July 5th. I am a vendor I noticed this when I was servicing a CVS.

and notice the noted absence of 'lets get RE-TODD-ID' lyric from the original song--thats been pretty much excised from that 'work of songcraft GENIUS' for all time now

Yeah this Back to School crap is in full force now. This Walmart ad I saw last week, but I am now seeing Target, Office Depot, Ross, etc. At least they are waiting towards the END of the month now. A few years ago I remember seeing a Back To School ad just2, 3 days after July 4.
Said it before, nothing like when I was a kid when most schools went back the day after Labor Day. That just doesn't happen anymore. Some districts go back the 2nd, 3rd week of Aug. (Personally I think that criminal and if I was a kid in one of these districts, it would depress the hell out of me! Heck, I HATED going back to college in mid Aug.! lol) *The map below hasnt changed that much. My friend in Georgia, her kid STILL has a first day for school next week! The depressing part of seeing these ads, its a true sign Summer is coming to a quick end. Next thing you know...Halloween Party City Ads, and suddenly....ugh. It's Nov. 1 and Xmas Ads are once again polluting our TVs. As for this d*mn tune, "Lets Get It Started," it has to be one of the most overused, played-out tunes for all commercials!

I grew up thinking that everyone started school the same time all of us East coasterners did---i.e., two days after Labor Day. If I'd been asked, I'd probably have said that "two days after Labor Day" applies even in Europe and other places where they have schools.

Nothing depressing about that for me. The end of summer is the happiest, most joyful time of the year AFAIC. I DESPISE SUMMER!!!!! Bring on the Halloween ads and fall decorations!!! (and cooler, drier weather) I wish it was fall all year around and the little brats had to spend the entire year in a perpetual state of school just started back again. |

Oh puleeze I HATE fall and I DEPISE winter you're lucky you live in FLORIDA where you don't have to freeze your ass off just to get somewhere YOU don't have clear snow off your car in ICE cold FREEZING temperatures! Plus the lack of sunlight and short days drive you MAD into Seasonal Affective Disorder! Darkness and cold no thanks! At least.in summer you can go places and not feel trapped by white stuff. At least you can cool off with a nice refreshing drink or air conditioning. So no you can take your dark and cold and stick it! |

I just assumed that "grand" old island was considered part of the greater Buffalo area. |

Honestly this Summer - personally - has been a total bust. AND...I am getting pretty sick of the extreme heat, humidity. I don't mind the temps getting cooler. Oh, and Eagles football season. Other than that..nah, I can do without Halloween, the Holidays, winter, wind chills, sun setting before 7, 6....5! ugh.

Before opening this topic I hoped, nay PRAYED, that THAT song wouldn't be in the commercial. And as I learned today - God is not real, or at the very least he is very cruel, lol

QVC was selling Halloween stuff a few days ago. By August 25th we'll probably see Party City's 'No One Sells More Halloween for Less' and the Thriller dancing.
And then by October 15th, Hershey's Kisses 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas.' No, make that October 1st. And Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds, and whatever other Xmas crap the other advertisers wing out. Ugh. I'm getting sick of this one already. The Old Navy 'silent disco' ad is just as bad, but way better than the lunchtime riots of last August.

I've seen this at least 50 times the past week. I'm instantly muting it now. School goes back this week here in the Yakima Valley thank goodness. Next week for Seattle/Bellevue/other western Washington districts.
