Stupid Announcer Bitch: "Who's idea was it to put swimsuits on models over thir-teee-fyvvvvve!?"

My question is who's idiotic idea was it to put this show on the air? What a bunch of stupid crap. They act like women in their 30s are old hags and being a model at that age is really unusual. Give us a break, and enough with the reality show garbage.

I hate TV Landfill more every day. Angry

The whole tagline of this show is "The average model's career ends at 21"....

What?? Tell that to America's next top model where most of the contestants are 18-26. I know I should have lost faith earlier with that show when the last winner was a personal friend of Tyra Banks. I was sad that TV Land decided to hop on the reality bandwagon, are shows from years past really not getting them where they need to be?

The Mods here swear that TV Land "needs" reality shows to make money. Endless threads about "bring back classic TV" or "quit the reality shows", but nothing changes at TV Land.

TCM seems to do quite well showing nothing but classic movies, and TV Land was doing fine when it first began. It's very existence was because the old black and white TV shows on the original Nick@Nite were so popular (before the ruined it); TV Land was just a 24 hour spinoff of the original Nick@Nite.

The people running this channel are clueless idiots. One would think with people on their forums demanding the old shows back, and the most popular shows on the channel still being Andy Griffith, Leave It To Beaver, I Love Lucy, etc. that they would get the hint. All of their "TV Land Originals" have bombed. Chasing Farrah, ALF's Hit Talk Show, The Big 4-0, etc, but they just keep churning out more. They'd make a lot more money I think just buying old shows to air instead of wasting it on producing dumb reality shows.

Whew, long rant. Tongue

We all know whats REALLY going on, Viacom owns TV Land, and so to earn more money Viacom execs ask TV Land to put in more reality programming to lure in more younger impressionable viewers to boost ratings, and in return in doing so TV Land rakes in the cash from this as well as the huge advertising dollars it gets from huge corporations that get their product placement as well as sponsoring the shows.

We all know it's an obvious fact that these reality shows are gigantic advertising machines to get more younger people to buy more crap to follow the "characters" "lifestyles" plus it's more cheaper to run than trying to get other conglomerates to air their old copyrighted material that they're so protective about on TV.

Besides we all know where TV Land really came out of, remember in the late 1990s fad where it seemed that everyone was infatuated with all things retro? You couldn't escape it! The people wanted retro and they got it, but once the retro fad pretty much wore off in the main public and reality shows started become the thing, and the big conglomerates started gobbling this stuff up and once TV Land found itself in it they had to adapt or die. These freaking huge companies are probably pretty powerful you'd probably wouldn't want to mess with them, if you aren't making huge amounts of money for them they'd probably shut you down in a second.

I take offense to TV Land's stupid crap -- women in their 30s, 40s & 50s still look great!  What on Earth are they referring to -- women who were in this age range 100 years ago?Angry

Sad, very sad. I don't subscribe to cable or dish (I have better things to waste my money on), but here I was thinking that TV Land must be the last place (besides Boomerang) where I can watch good old fashioned TV with out reality shows. First MTV stopped playing videos, then A&E stopped showing arts and entertainment, then The learning Channel just wants to show you how to horribly remodel your neighbor's house or the latest in military advancement, and now this?

I pray for a day that TV channels that we pay for start showing what we want them to show. Like Sci-Fi showing science fiction, The Learning Channel show be more like PBS, and so on. AND why should i pay for a service that sill bombards me with commercials?! I remember back in the good old days that when you got cable, your rarely saw commercials. But I see the big picture, everyone has the pay the bills b/c over time people want more and more money (we call it inflation) for goods and services and what not. Good that someone wants to give these cougars a show, but why in the hell does it have to be TV Land?!

Welcome aboard, Gasser.

TV Land went down the crapper just like Cartoon Network. Wish my cable company carried
Boomerang, that's where the good toons are.

Jimbo posted a good link to a broadcast channel that shows the classic shows. Look in the "There's nothing on TV" Thread here. Maybe theres a affiliate near you.

Howdy Tiz, your avatar makes me chuckle every time I watch it.
Man I guess I'll have to solicit RTN, the closest affiliate is 3 hours north of me and out of my range. Sounds like a channel I could watch all the time.

They showed ads for this damn show since March or April and almost immediately after it finally debuted last week, they started showing ads for a show with George Foreman which doesn't start until July 16th. They must be totally desperate to have people watch these show if they have to bombard viewers with ads for them.

A&E has gone down the same slippery slope as TV Land and the other cable channels that once broadcast classic TV shows.  I remember when A&E had repeats of mysteries such as Remington Steele and Murder She Wrote.  Not anymore.

Whatever new networks they're spewing out these days, such as the GREEN network, don't even go near anything classic--or remotely watchable. Just carbon copies of reality/makeover crap.

The way I understand it, the FCC requires "networks" to have x number of hours of original programming per week (I think it's 15 but don't quote me).  If a cable channel like TVLand doesn't qualify as a network, then the cable systems won't put them on their higher teir of channel line ups (like Basic as opposed to Premium).  So cable channels have a huge incentive to make sure they keep their "network" status.

So, in order get the 15 or so hours of original programming...TV Land has decided to lower themselves to producing garbage like She's Got The Look.  A show, by the way, that is produced by none other than the queen of slime herself Miss Allison (Woolly Mammoth) Grodner.  The same Woolly Mammoth that produces Big Brother.

As if that wasn't enough, TVLand has chosen to poison every classic TV show they air with pop-ups and squeeze backs and bugs, shoving this garbage down our throats.   It's not a matter of us simply not watching it, TVLand forces us to be exposed to it with their saturation bombing campaigns.

So, basically if you want to escape from the scum that is "reality TV" you really have no choice other than to rent DVDs from NetFlix or Blockbuster.  I watch all my old favorites that way.

TVLand is dead as far as I am concerned.  They are just another reality TV show network that happens to air some cool old classics.  Butchered, of course by their unwillingness to roll the full opening and closing credits of most shows and the fact that every one of them is tainted with She's Got The Look graphics plastered all over it, but hey...who cares if your viewers hate you?

What it all boils down to is: Crap shows make money, while quality shows don't.

Stupid Announcer Bitch: "Who's idea was it to put swimsuits on models over thir-teee-fyvvvvve!?"

Yeah, how sad is it when some over 35+ hag says thir-teee-fyvvvvve like some affected 15 year old!

All my friends here have missed the real obnoxiousness about this show.  How BITCHY this whole crew of queens are  judging the women.

I'd like to tell that dark haired freak, "Listen, so you're the head of some modeling agency, you don't have to be cruel to some women in their 40s who are trying their best.  Besides, look at you, you squinty eyed, effeminate azzclown with your black blazer and pink shirt.  THAT combination NEVER worked, so to me, you're opinion STARTS at worthless and goes down from there.

Or how about that bald living comic book.  Damn, every time I channel surf there he is sashaying through some other show telling everyone how bad they look.  Yeah dude, we get it, we know you're gay, you don't have to keep telling us that.  Like one look at you, and one word out of your piehole, and we got it...it's not like we're all sitting here "you mean that guy is GAY? Who knew!!!!"

Oh and Beverly Johnson, I guess here is your chance to spew some venom on folks and somehow "get back" at the people who obviously gave you a hard time as a model.  But with you, it's different.  You might like to make a joke about how that one woman prances like a horse, but really honey, back in the day you looked like a transsexual, and you still do.

Where on earth do these people come from?

Some of that was pretty day-um funny.

Yes, I agree.  The judges on some of these shows are so absolutely FULL OF THEMSELVES.

I didn't want to start a thread on this---but has anyone heard about the America's Top Model riot in NYC?

excerpt:
Three people were arrested and six others hurt Saturday after bedlam broke out while they waited to audition for "America's Next Top Model," police said.

Police didn't know what prompted the chaos involving hundreds of people outside the Park Central New York hotel in Manhattan. The panic left the street outside the hotel littered with shoes and clothing, according to news reports.

Bedlam.  Chaos.  Panic.  LOL  I'd love to have seen it.  Maybe there'll be a video of the rioting models.

When they aren't showing "Beverly Hillbillies" I usually turn it right off.  I love how Granny calls people she doesn't like "Goomers".
