Right...disk scans/virus scans can lock up...what I am suggesting are two different tools most people never play with.

Disk cleanup may take 5 minutes at worst before prompting for the user to select what files to erase - and once choices made (I choose all), maybe another few minutes at worst.

Disk De-fragmentation can take a nice hour, especially older releases of Windows and file depending upon file system used. The object is to ensure files are contiguous and not fragmented into a primary and any number of secondary allocations, which leads to poor performance through access times and also slit-up free areas for any new files that you may need as you download anything. It first analyzes and provides you a projection of how things will look should you allow it to continue. If you do continue, make sure you are offline and wander away from the PC for half a day ("what WILL we do???" many ask). DO NOT interrupt this process once it starts, at all costs - especially if you see it writing data. It will stop when it is complete and the results can lead to some radical performance differences (especially with older file systems). At that point, personally, I like restarting my machine.

Thanks, PaW.  I tried to do the whole disk scan thing, it ran for hours then locked up.  Everything is working alright at the moment.
I can't complain but sometimes I still do.

It won't complete just about any search I try to do!
1.) Try clearing your browsing history (under tools/safety tab)
2.) Go to start bar - ALL PROGRAMS/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Clean-Up
kick that off - it will take a few moments, then will offer groups of files to get rid of (I get rid of all choices)

That may help you

no idea of what release of windows you are running, but under the SYSTEM TOOLS tab is another option called DISK DEFRAG which is really good but may take a while - let it run and go to dinner or something - be sure and reboot once it completes

I guess I wasn't specific enough. The yawns I can't stand are the ones with the unnecessarily loud, drawn-out sighs in them. Some are close to screams.
Big smileI yodel when I yawn, in a Swiss Alps kind-of-way - do yodelywaners bother you too, or do we get a pass? Believe me, in the Alps, we need every pass we can get.

Haha. Well, your yawn/yodels just sound amusing! Amusing gets a pass.

Once upon a time a long time ago, I had to wear the 'Stupid Stamp' because I bought a lovely pair of warm, emerald green slippers for the Missus to trot around the house. I bought them as quick as I saw them and saw they were her size! They were also the size of the back of my head as they were both for the left foot...yea, I took them back.

What pisses me off?  Going to Walmart!  Just to add insult to injury. I needed a few things...

Oil and filters for both vehicles. Done!

A new pair of house slippers (moccasins). They showed the size as 9-10, I wear a 9 1/2 shoe.  They are a little loose but they might be OK. They are warmer than my old, worn out pair.

I'm going to need a new leaf blower, I saw an ad on TV from Menards for a gas leaf blower for about $70.
Walmart had only 2 blowers on display, the Christmas stuff is taking over that part of the store.

$148 for a f*cking Snapper gas blower! Angry  Shut the front door!  I'll wait!

I always eat the same thing for breakfast, I'm sick and tired of bacon, eggs and toast.  They (walmart) used to carry sausage gravy in a boil in bag.  Tennesee Pride, I believe.  Nope!  I should have just checked out before I got to the frozen breakfast section.
I can't complain but sometimes I still do.

You think that's bad-- a long time ago, me and my brother went to the Shell gas station at the top right corner of the intersection of U.S. 25/S.C. 418/S.C. 8 (25 goes straight, 418 to the right, and 8 to the left). We went in there around 9 A.M. to get some kind of biscuit (that's what I think it was; I may be incorrect), only to have the lady behind the counter say, "We're serving lunch right now." Lunch, at 9 A.M.?! Last I recall, lunch was not supposed to start being served anywhere until around 11. I cannot believe that breakfast at that Shell station would end a full two hours before the lunch time was supposed to start.

Then along came QT, and I have never looked back-- first time I ever tried one of those was coming back from visiting my brother, my sister-in-law, my nephew and niece just outside metro Atlanta. I forget what number the exit was from I-85, or the places named on that exit, but when I got lunch there (I also forget what I ate), the service was superb, they made it just how I wanted it, and the lunch tasted great. I thought, sold! Whenever I can go to a QT, I'm going to take full advantage of it.

Have you ever tried QT?
I would have to know what 'QT' is to answer that question.Confused

QT: QuikTrip
ConfusedAgreed - never heard of 'QT'...and I drive a lot, but mostly up and down the Eastern Seaboard, these days...so I HAD to make some sense of 'QT' and found this site, which SOUNDS right. If this is the chain, please let us know.

LOLWink (keep in mind I AM KIDDING) I get pissed at people like you who get pissed at me for me helping my brain get more oxygen (by yawning, and sometimes - I can't help it as I claim I've a breathing disorder) so I can listen to your lame presentation or sales pitch...but don't worry - you may already work for me and as long as you DO and I don't need to listen to your past boring and meaningless accomplishments, then you will not get pissed during the hiring interview with me for yawning or napping...and, please - no stains. Stains really jerk my chain!

Last week, I needed to put some gas in my truck. There is a spring loaded door over the gas cap.  I heard a 'pop'.  Sum-bitch!  If I drive down the highway, at higher speeds, the door opens up.  This is almost as bad as driving with your turn signal on.  I had to do something! I have a big bag of rubber bands in the garage, it worked pretty well!  There is a hook on the gas cap door, wrap a rubber band around the cap and attach it to the hook. Easy peazy, afro engineering. Tongue

Or...I could buy the part to fix it! Confused

Mama has had a busy weekend. She attended another 'market' thing yesterday morning, it was an October Fest thing yesterday evening. She didn't get home till midnight.

Today, she was going to share babysitting duty with her oldest daughter, who cancelled. The younger daughter and her SO are going to the Brewers game. That's a long day (about 8 hours) of sitting when she's already tired.

Ultimately! I went to f**king McDonalds this morning to get a sandwich for later.  This guy with a high school voice tells me..."We're not serving lunch."   Why not?  I say.  "We are short on staff."

I wanted to say.  Call your f*cking manager and get some more people in here you f*cking idiot!  I just spun my tires right in his ear!  Then, here I'm going have to settle for a stinky convenience store sandwich.  A spicy chicken sandwich, I quit buying this crap for a reason.  Then, and here is the irony of today.  I like a little mayo on my chicken sandwich.  I check the 'best if used by' date.  10-01-18.  Go figure!  If my hip bone doesn't sever my femoral artery, this old mayo may kill me!

Angry People that will NOT answer a simple question...………….

You ask "Is it YES or NO?" or "Was it black or white?" or "Paper or Plastic?"

And they gone on for 1/2 an hour about how they colored a fish last week.

In then end you have to ask again. And maybe again...…. And you may STILL not get the answer.Angry

The land and house has increased in value by $31,500 since the last assessment in 2004.

This could mean one of two things.

An increase in the selling price over what we paid back in 2006?

A big fat property tax increase?

Since it seems unlikely we could sell this place before the next tax payment is due, I think we are screwed.
Insatiable greedy bass turds. Mo money, mo money, mo money!!! It is never enough. Every year there was a property tax levy on the ballot. Usually for schools. "It's for the children". When after a few years of this it became obvious most of the school levy money was not being spent on schools the voters started voting NO. They thought they found a way around that by threatening to not fund high school sports. Fortunately those who were not sports fans still voted NO. They switched to levies (mo money) that was "needed" to continue emergency services (police, ambulance, and fire). Fortunately the majority of voters had gotten wise to their BS. About 2 decades ago the county were I lived decided to increase revenue by raising the percentage per $1,000 on property taxes by as much as 5%. The state informed them the limit was 1% per year. They countered by re-assessing properties with a 25% increase. Of course it was done with the stroke of a pen not actual assessors going door to door. The state countered by informing the counties that since they now had much more than enough money to function they no longer needed state financial subsidies. An immediate end to that nonsense.

I wised up years ago re all the ballots and propositions and initiatives and votes to raise taxes in order to improve education for kids.  Seems education was never showing any improvement...while teachers' pensions were.

Something I think you would really enjoy is a series called "Dominion Creek". It was produced by an Irish company under the original title "An Klondike".

Set in the Yukon territory during the gold Rush, three Irish brothers venture there to work a claim passed on to them by an uncle who had mined enough gold to retire on.

It's about as raw and unflinching as TV gets. The promise of gold and riches attracted some very bad people to a stinking, muddy, disease-ridden hell hole called Dominion Creek.

In this scene, a territorial judge and his assistant who were coming to town to oversee the trial of a well connected sleazeball for murder, meet up with two very bad guys who were hired to intercept them, then assume their identities, with the intent to throw the trial in the defendant's favor.

I'll certainly look for 'Dominion Creek' - thank you.
I used the get regular live views of the real world that inspired 'Luther' - there are some REAL sick bastards out in the world and running into them or their handiwork first-hand will change you and when it does, no matter what happens from then on, you will never escape it and it will always find you. It is as if you gain another level of vision & hearing/perception clarity - one you never asked for, one that will never leave you. I enjoyed it at the time, but the Missus did not (why re-live it all?). Nowadays?
I'm no longer sure what I enjoy watching.

My city has decided to tack a $78 fee per year on each property to pay for street lights (something the power company has always taken care of.)  Supposedly this is for upkeep and improvements, but it came out that they really wanted the money to install new lights for their pet "new town center" project.  None of the current city council who voted for it are running for re-election, so it also smacks of an "eff you!" gesture as they leave office.  Good riddance...
