Quit work. Build new house. Travel, travel, travel. England. Kenyan Safari. Ireland. Nordic countries. France. Donate lots and lots to animal welfare and children's charities. And more travel.

I buy my FREEDOM from work!
Hooty - you get both - lawyers AND financial wizards.
Seriously, I would buy land and build our dream house. No huge, ornate mansion - but something very private. Beachfront would be great.

Records and candy!
Actually, after I blew $100,000 or so, I'd set my friends and family up with a few million each. I wouldn't want my friends and family to struggle financially when I have the ability to completely alleviate that. Not sure how I'd do it, though. Maybe I'd set them up with some investment portfolio so that taxes wouldn't be such a huge cut. I don't know how that works, though. Sure would like to find out. I know I could give them a tax-free gift of $12,000 or so...but with $500,000,000, that seems pretty cheap.
I also have a fantasy of building a huge compound of nice homes at the Jersey shore for my friends and family to live in or even just to spend their summers at.
And then, I'd buy myself a purple metalflake 1969 Cadillac El Dorado convertible with a white fur interior. Luxury these days just isn't what it used to be.

Gosh...I don't know what I'd do with all that money.
I guess first off, I'd pay off my student loans. Then I'd buy a car for my family and go on a nice trip. Then I have no idea what I'd do with the rest. I wouldn't quit my job, though. |

We're picking up our tickets tomorrow. We never play, but decided to this time, lol.
We would be debt free, #1. We would buy a home in Michigan. We would either pay off or buy homes for family members. We would then make large donations to animal and children's charities. Not before getting an attorney and a financial adviser, though. We're going to get $4 worth of tickets with numbers we pick, and $5 worth of quick picks. |

![]() It's not completely selfless, Codtaro. Part of it is that I don't wanna hafta feel any guilt over being so wealthy while my friends or family are struggling. Plus, I wouldn't want a disparity of wealth to affect my relationships---especially since I know those relationships are the real thing.

"Debt-free" is a great feeling. No more worry that something's gonna come up such that you can't pay your electric bill this month. Just having a great credit score and no debt is its own reward.
At this point, there aren't many more material things that I'd need. No yachts or works of art or anything like that. I'd get a somewhat bigger house with more property, no doubt. But no $400,000 cars. There aren't even any $400,000 cars that I long for at the present, so why would I suddenly want one?

They said the cash payout as of today is $396 million, minus whatever your state takes in taxes.
![]() Say they take 96 mil., you still have 300 million. You'd need both a tax adviser and a financial adviser. I wouldn't want to give money to my family members if that put them in a tax burden: that's where the advisers come in. No need for my money to be taxed again. I am scared to death flying ![]() I'd give to animal shelters--- screw the starving children. Hollywood can donate to them. I'd have a beachfront home in Nagshead and a second one inland--- somewhere.

We would get a comfortable house, by no means a mansion, on a nice piece of land in MI. I'm at the point in my life where I'm not car crazy, and Max has never been car crazy, so there wouldn't be any BMW's or such in the driveway. We'd still be driving the Hyundai during good weather, but since we seem to prefer the colder climates, I'd want to get another 4x4 for winter. A Jeep would be fine.
I would like for Aaliah, my daughter, to finish college, so I would give her plenty to live off of so she could go to school full time. We'd also get her, Shawn, and Ethan a house. I would want to get a condo or townhouse for Matt, my son. He is unmarried, no children. He's living with his father right now, and is not the most motivated person. I'd give him one more chance to go to college (this time without flunking out....) I'd give him a small portion of money, not a whole lot. He needs to learn what responsibility is. Our parents and my Aunt Ruby would be sitting pretty. We would want to travel. It would be life with a nicer house and better furniture. ![]() |

One thing I will do if I win. I will let it be known there are people in this country who regard 1/2 a Gigabuck as "Pocket Change" (The "One Percenters") and I would CHALLENGE them to do as I did. I'd quote Matthew 25: 31-46 and remind them that one day God will JUDGE them for what they did and didn't do for those lesser than them. I would also let them know that NONE of the things I did would ensure myself a place in heaven, because "Good Works" will not get you into Heaven.

Also, what about setting up an investment account for them? How would that be taxed? If they then cashed out on investments, they're only taxed on that amount, and at a lower rate than the tax on straight income.
Still, if I had that much money, and I was worried about the government taking half, I'd simply double-up on the amount that I give them. If I want them to have $1,000,000, I'd simply give them $2,000,000. One of the benefits of having soooo much money, is that you can do such a thing.

I could buy the kitties one of those 2 thousand dollar gerbil wheels for cats--I really think they'd like that! And one room that can be totally hosed down for all the litter boxes. I also decided last night that I would like remote controlled blinds for my windows.

I wouldn't even want that much money.
Sounds like it would cause more work & worry than it would be worth.
And because I doubt most of the people I know would give me squat if they won, I have little desire to give them anything.
As for family... I hardly have any. My mom, of course I'd be happy to give more than she could ever spend, but she's not very materialistic & doesn't want or need much because she'd financially comfortable already. Plus, at her age there's just not a lot she can do travel or activity-wise.
And my sister.... I really have no idea which way she'd go if she won that much. She might decide to toss me a ferw bucks, but I doubt it would be much, if any. She might also just not give me anything. So that puts me in the quandry of what I'd be comfortable giving her.
I'm tired of doing crap for people who are inconsiderate towards me.
I'd rather just win about 5 million, keep about 3 million after taxes & have nobody know about it.

![]() MissyDWolf and the GIRLS have always been lucky with scratch-offs; us guys? we just donate money to them (under the condition they share - but just TRY and get a female to share money once she has it in her hands...ain't happenin'!). Guessing numbers? None of us have been really lucky there, except the time about 20 years ago, we were passing through Virginia and MissyD guessed right for a couple o'hundred bucks - but then let the friggin' ticket expire before claiming it (she "forgot" - I cried.).
Think MissyDWolf went and splurged and spent maybe 10 bucks on 'donating to the (whatever the) cause', which, should she win, would probably be hers (she'd probably change her name and move to Switzerland, for all I know...but I doubt I'd get a Molson's Ice outta the deal).
When the kids were at home in Tejas, I used to give the gurlz about 20 bucks a week to go grab 'scratchies'; they knew ALL the (hypothetical) tricks - and they always won their allowance - they constantly seemed to win more than a cute hooker would make at a Millionaires' Party (now, I'm not sure how much that would be 'cause I was never accused of being 'cute'),
Mind you, they NEVER bought me as much as a stinkin' beer.
So...this Mega (currently $540M U.S.)? Probably will end up using the tickets as toilet paper.
Oh yea..."what would *I* buy(should the unthinkable "sharing" occur")?
Probably a doctor's appointment; with this screwed up weather, I got out on the bike and have suffered the wost of a cyclist's nightmares (because I didn't properly stretch enough before a few big rides) - pinched the ulnar nerve. Pretty much like having that feeling that a heart attack, or stroke, is about to occur...suffering for a week, now - but there is little one can do (it very slowly gets better and biking is totally 'off-limits').
