Why are owls considered "wise"?
I don't get it.

They just look wise.

I think it's because they appear to be wearing spectacles which, along with the nose-like beak gives them a sort of scholarly look...

A very popular brand here in the NY/NJ area years ago.  They're still around,

Ive noticed the same thing lately. I'm not sure why its the hype thing now to put an owl in a commercial. There is also a Geico and a Wendy's commercial with owls in them. The Geico ad is from a year or two ago but the Wendy's one is still being shown.

Geico

Looks like Wendys's "borrowed" the old White Owl cigar mascot.

If I ever saw something like that at my front door, it wouldn't be my front door very much longer.

I'd be outta there post haste.

Wasn't there a wise old owl who told some dopey kid how many licks there were to the center of a tootsie roll pop?

I couldn't be more sick of anything than the 'TripAdvisor Owl'
This may possibly be 'improper board ettiquette', but...
1.) I wanna kill the owl
2.) I wanna de-feather it, chop off its fake little head
3.) I wanna boil the remains
4.) Once boiled, I wanna coat it in curry and toss it in boiling oil for 30 minutes
5.)  Cool it, strip the meat off
6.) Take the glasses away from the 'America's Best' spokesowl
7.) Feed the AB owl the TA owl, claiming what I have is 'curried mouse'
8.) Then I wanna kill little mister know-it-owl and feed it to the pigs, who will eat anything and leave no evidence

Hey now,  I LIKED the 'America's Best' smarmy owl ads when they first came out. "Whooo?" "Stop it!"

Here lately the big offender is WGU, ('Western Governor's University), and at least they're low-key commercials and mildly humorous.

The Zyxal commercials were a bit much, with the highly stylized 'classy' owl with a British accent. "Wise all with Zyxal"?

I'm familiar with the WGU commercials, too. A little too silly.
HOWEVER, you hit the nail on the head with the Zyxal ads - they only showed for a short time, here...but even that was too long.

Aaaaaaand, by the way - what a pleasant 'blast from the past'! Great to see you back, Geezer - hope to see you more often. Hope this finds You & Yours at only the best.
