I think it's time to start our annual Halloween thread!!!

I'll start with a post about my homemade pizza box lid Halloween decorations.

I've always kept the lids from the Little Caesar's pizza boxes I get every time I get a pizza from them. Why? I've never really known exactly, but for some reason, I just can't bring myself to toss out a nice, square, clean piece of cardboard. Same with nice cardboard boxes. I just know that someday I'll have a use for a nice straight, clean piece of cardboard or a nice clean box.

So anyway, I got these vinyl window Jack-O-Lantern things at the Dollar Tree, four in the pack for a buck, but they weren't really worth messing with. So instead, I used them as tracing templates on the underside of the pizza box lids, then cut the lids to shape, painted them etc.

Front side:

Back side:

Hanging in my yard:

I originally painted the backside black just to cover the printing on the lid, then decided to do a reverse image orange face on them. Now, when they spin in the breeze, you get two faces, one in reverse.

Had to take them down after taking the pic because it's been so windy here, they were whipping all around. Will put them back up in a couple of days.

Just dug out the few Halloween trinkets we had for the office today.
One of the tenants wants me to carve a Jack O Lantern out of a pumpkin she brought home. Told her if she scoops out all that pumpkin goo inside, I'll mark and cut out a face. Hate messing with that stuff.

Always look forward to the Charlie Brown Halloween special..... " I got a rock."LOL

Well, this stuff isn't really home made. ^ Looks good, Jimbo.
Mama always puts some seasonal stuff out.

Nice work, Jimbo!

I haven't done anything decoration-wise yet. I thought we would be spending Halloween in Rhode Island but that's not happening. Oh well. I'll put out my wooden jack-o-lantern and ghost that my sister-in-law made. And inside I'll put out my owls. We don't get any trick or treaters in NY so I'll spend the day and evening eating candy I can't resist buying and watching spooky movies.

Thanks, msmadz!!

Speaking of wood jack-o-lanterns, I've had a hankering for quite awhile, to cut a really big one out of a piece of plywood, with my jigsaw. Maybe four feet across. Paint it up and attach wooden stakes to the back side of it to drive into the ground and hold it upright.

Maybe even put some kind of lighting either in or around the eyes, nose & mouth, maybe around the outer edge. Or possibly put a solar powered spot light into the ground in front of it, pointing back at it.

I'd love to back light the facial features, but that would involve getting yellow translucent plexiglass and making a light box on the back. And that of course would start to cost some money.

And as of yet, I haven't found the right size piece of scrap wood anyhow.

I like to make these kinds of things from found materials with a minimal investment in things like paint, etc.

That's exactly what we have! And a ghost peering over the top of the pumpkin. We've had this thing for 18 years and it still is in great shape!

I would do more, but like I said, we don't get anyone coming to the door. It's sad because I love watching the kids all dressed up.

"Kitten" = "adorable".

Would enjoy seeing a pic of your big wood punkin, madz.

If not too much trouble.

Would be a great addition to the 2015 Halloween thread!!!

Anyone else who has Halloween decorations, how about snapping a pic and posting it here?

Leave it to PaW to drop a turd into the middle of a perfectly good natured thread.

Q.) What does a "good wolf" look like?

A.)

Wolves (and coyotes) are the sh*t of the animal world.

Happy Halloween.

Unhappy...oh my, I guess it is time for a little 'kum ba yah session' - ya gotta believe me, ol'Mule. I was raised right with proper morals, scruples, values, and beliefs...like I know it's true the Coneheads are from France. If someone were to tell me THAT wasn't true, could you even imagine what *I* would do every time I got a little pussy in front of me? Why, I'd rip it a new one, doncha know...

I'm not a football fan, mind you. This is Appa's Jack-O-Lantern:

"Will she fit up here", she asked.

"She will if I pose her like this", I answered.

Jimbo, I can't post right now as I'm not home to take a picture.

Just think... in a few days Angry is going to post his traditional "8 more days til Halloween Silver Shamrock" thread. AND I CAN'T WAIT!

Darth - that floozy witch is PRICELESS. I need one of those!

Pa- admit it, you're a 100% ALL critter lover.
