UNBELIEVABLE. The Senate voted today to delay the transition to June 2.
So now, just when we think its *finally* over, we get almost 4 more months of being inundated with godawful commercials that act like the world will end if we're not prepared for DTV.
I'm thinking of moving to Canada.

What the f**k? We'll be hearing more about DTV propaganda.

If there is anyone who hasn't gotten the necessary equipment, watch this video.

Closing logos! Now that's something I can watch on TV.

putting the remote in the microwave and the supposedly plugging into the big dish was the best parts. LOL
One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off

I bet the networks were behind getting the delay.  They've got all new TV starting up the next few weeks, and the DTV changeover would have played hell with that (meaning:  lost viewers.)  I'm still waiting for the whole DTV thing to be sh*tcanned.  There is still a lot of resistance to it....

I'm all for a delay as long as there is a total ban on ads announcing it after February 17th. If you don't know by now, you never will.

Furthermore, if you don't know by now, you have no right to know.  In fact, you have no right to exist.

I haven't really followed this breaking news, but I hope they're not saying that there are some people who aren't ready for the changeover.  Chances are, no matter how long you delay it, those people will probably still not be ready.  They're like those people still living in FEMA trailers.

Part of it has to do with running out of funding for the discount card program, but primarily it had to do with people on rural areas still not being ready.
Great news guys.... With the Air Hawk, flat balls are no longer a problem!!!

Well Thor, then you need to come to Cleveland, STAT!!    Tonight, CBS station 19ActionNews scoured the depths of hell to find the MORONS who are clueless about DTV, including one woman who had someone in "telecommunications" work on connecting a converter box for two hours and it didn't work.   Sorry lady, but janitor at the AT&T building doesn't count as "working in telecommunications"LOLLOLLOLLOLLOL.

And Oh em gee, the picture is freezing up.   ADJUST THE F**KING ANTENNA TO GET A STRONGER SIGNAL!!    It's just like when the rabbit ears used to fuzz up.   And then they show the idiot with tin foil on the rabbit ears.AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

C'mon people this is not rocket science.  It's very easy to connect these boxes.

1. Disconnect the line from the antenna from the back of the TV set.
2. Connect the line from the Antenna to the "ANT IN" port on the back of the converter box.
3. Connect another coax cable from the "OUT" connector of the converter box to the "ANT IN" connector on the back of the TV.
4. Plug in the converter box.
5. Se the TV set to channel 3 or 4 and LEAVE THE TV ON THAT CHANNEL.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to search for channels.
7. READ THE F**KING INSTRUCTION MANUAL!!!   You'd be surprised how much easier life is if you take the time to read and be informed.    This is where things like the Aspect Ratio is explained(which is how you get rid of the bars around the picture).

There, was that so hard?? LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

And the stupidity of this is amazing.   The local FOX station ran a DTV program and there was the case of a woman who returned several converter boxes as "defective".   A reporter and the station's engineer came to her house.   The problem was the TV was on the wrong channel for converter box output.   DUH!!!DeadDeadDead

Well the government just crammed MILLIONS, hundreds of millions into that so-called stimulus package for vouchers for these f**king things. I don't know how the hell that is gonna stimulate the economy!! I am so damned sick of these friggin ads!!

Thor you are absolutely right......(as I type this one of those ads is on!!).....about no matter how long they give them, some won't comply. A lot of these older people just don't understand it, but it's not just them. I have a friend who is younger than I am and she is a total techno-phobe. She has a computer, but doesn't get Internet for it, because she is scared to death about identity theft. I told her as long as she didn't buy stuff online or bank online, she really had nothing to worry about but she is still freaked out about it.

I remember long ago, my grandmother didn't have a microwave, so we bought her one. She loved popcorn, and instant coffee, so we figured it would make her life easier. She bought those jiffy pop pans and had to fire up her range to boil water for her coffee. She never used the microwave, except to store her leftover breakfast biscuits in!! LOL I spent the night with her one night and cooked a hamburger in it, and she freaked out. No fuss no muss, and I made a pretty damned tasty burger in it. She started using it after that, but it took a long time for her to come around.

I'm figuring a lot of these rural folks just don't get the importance of it, and that they don't even pay attention to these things. I say, let it go dark....then they'll get on the bandwagon!! Some folks just have to touch the fire to see if it's hot.
AW DAMN!!!! Wild Shot the friggin TV again!!!

So... they delayed the deadline, but their official call is to keep the 2/17/09 deadline? Cool.

IF YOU'RE STILL USING ANTENNA FOR TV RECEPTION, YOU NEED TO GO TO YOUR LOCAL RETAIL OR ELECTRONICS STORE AND GET A CONVERTER BOX BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE, otherwise you'll be whining about not having TV reception.
Closing logos! Now that's something I can watch on TV.

Huh?    Nothing is being "taken away".   All the local channels you currently get will still be there.   In fact, there will actually be more, thanks to multicasting.   Many of these channels will have "-2" and "-3" channels that show other programming.    Also, just because analog tuners will not work, it doesn't mean the channels are "taken away".   You need a simple upgrade in the form of a converter box or a new television set with the tuner built in.    A simple $60 converter box is hardly the end of the world.

No, what is sickening is the fact people want to delay this transition because of idiots who will never be prepared.    What is sickening is when there is opposition to digital.    Digital = Good.   Analog = Bad, Evil, Scary.   Digital is the best across the board.   Picture and sound quality is far better and there is room for many new options like HDTV and Dolby surround sound.    It is also a much more efficient broadcast standard, especially on cable TV systems.

Bad news, people.

Congress voted to push back the digital transition to June 12. That means we have to deal with these commercials for another four months.

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Well let the chaos begin! In my market we've already got stations declaring that they'll turn off as planned and others staying on.
