I hate to be nit picky, but can you please at least mention the name of the company. That this commercial is for, in the title of this thread?

It would clear up confusion.

Is that the crinkle cut Burger King fry ad? It's pretty terrible.

The fries look pretty sh*tty, even on the commercial. They look like the giant frozen bag kind you can get at Costco for $2.99. I'm sure BK pays even less.

I just read an article about the new fries at BK.  The draw is that they are lower in calories than regular fries,  HOWEVER, they "batter" the fries before frying them.  That means there is some sort of concoction that coats the potato sticks before they fry them in the deep fryer.  The article neglected to state what the "batter" is made with, but did point out that McDonald's does NOT batter their fries.  Scaryfries is more like it.  Sick

I think Arby's batters their fries.

True, it'd be nice to know what's in it, but it doesn't sound exactly "scary"

If anything, they're probably cutting the potato thinner, then using a thick batter to bring them up to the size of the older fries, hence same size, lower calories.

Although, honestly...I'd be pissed. I have to buy two large fries sometimes to get in enough calories (Getting in protein and fats is easy. I do that within two meals in under 1500 calories. It's the remaining 1500-2000 that are annoying) from McD's as it is.

Sometimes you have to beat the little fries to let 'em know who's boss.

Oh for the days when McDonald's used to cook their fries in lard.  You couldn't wait to eat one as soon as you pulled away from the drive-thru.

Those fries used to be great, the Mcnuggets too, made with mostly dark meat, also fried in beef lard.

The veggie people got all upset when they learned their french fries weren't so vegetarian, and unhealthy as well.  McD's changed to vegetable oil as a result, and it's not even close to as good.

So I'm not delusional when I remember that the fries and the nuggets tasted much better back in the day!

I remember a big stink by the Muslims that McDonalds used lard which is pork fat. If it was beef lard which is suet there was no problem. If what we use in our cooking offends you it is simple. Don't buy it!!! The solution is the same if you think it is unhealthy. Don't try to tell me what I can eat or drink Bloomberg and others!!! I eat and drink whatever I want but my appetite is so small I don't think it matters.

Those "satis-fries" look like the thick frozen crinkle cut fries my mom used to get in huge bags at the grocery store, and heated in the oven. Yuck.
Hundreds of threads killed.

Totally agree. People buy low fat, tasteless everything now because they can't quit stuffing their faces. Here's an idea: EAT LESS! You might actually enjoy your food more.

I spent a weekend with my friend and his wife at his cabin, and everything they have is "low-fat" or "non-fat". Have you ever tried non-fat cream cheese? I think I lost a few pounds that weekend from not eating anything.

I say: fry french fries with beef lard, cook with bacon grease... Just don't eat that stuff all the time, maybe when you do eat it, you'll enjoy it more. Can't control yourself? Tough. Vegetarian, or against your religion? Eat somewhere else.

Seems Burger King is dropping these lower-calorie French Fries from their menu.

Turns out people actually don't want a healthy alternative to regular French Fries at their favorite fast-food restaurants.  Big surprise there.

Now there's a term I'm sick of hearing... "healthy alternative".

" The healthiest alternative for you, would be to stop saying 'healthy alternative', before I punch you in the face, pal!!!"

^  Really.  But worse is "healthier alternative".  It's even less meaningful.  Toss one French fry away, and your Burger King meal would qualify as "healthier".
