My heart skipped a beat and sank tonight when I saw this breaking tonight. He was one of the smartest people out there - so much knowledge about theoretical physics, black holes and the universe. Along with those 'Big Bang Theory' guest appearances and movie appearances. What an inspiration to the world - now resting in forever peace. RIP! CryCryCry

What a shame!!! Cry

Stephen was one of the most intelligent men who have ever lived; he could actually be a bit humorous as well (see the very beginning of the Star Trek: TNG episode, "Descent" for such an example).

You will be sorely missed!!!

Hawking has LONG been an inspiration. When we raised our children, I always wanted them to have real live heroes - people who did real things to inspire them to do and be their dreams, to always know the difference between right and wrong and to know when to properly use the word 'NO'. The Missus was a HUGE Hawking fan...and wouldn't you know he'd go grab his SpaceMonkeyMeritBadge right when his music career was just taking off...
RIP and Thank You Mr. Hawking...and I tell you what! Just because you've changed dimensions, you should Keep Talking (we're listening)'.
