Okay, I know we've had Rice Krispies rants on this board before, but I think these ads have an additional problem besides just the schmaltziness. I saw this ad twice today and it features the usual scene of parent and kids making Rice Krispies treats, excpet, at the end of the ad, it says "Happy 4th of July". 4th of July? It's frickin June!! Why are the ads becoming more and more like stores that have Christmas stuff out almost right after Halloween? I suppose they felt they had to jump on the rush-the-holidays bandwagon. Whatever happened to Snap, Crackle, and Pop? What- were they not *modern* and *hip* enough for today's generation? Who the Censored cares!! They're classic!!

I think they're actually trying to sell to some parents' lack of "connectedness" with their kid. I've seen this a lot in commercials - they show some new toy or food or something, and the kid and the parent playing together with it and then hugging at the end. I think it's the adholes picking on some peoples' insecurities about their relationships and exploiting them to sell products.

I really hated the one with the Hispanic lady giving her daughter a midnight snack and then carrying her up to bed. Who the hell sits there and practically cheerleads for the kid cause they ate a bowl of friggin' cereal and then the listening to it. If I hear my cereal talk I'm going to the nearest rubber room and commit myself!

This is a country in which Christmas propaganda starts the day after Halloween and you're surprised about 4th of July advertising a little over a week before the holiday?

That being said, I hate all these sappy commercials. It's a friggin' rice krispies treat.

I hate those spots too...I find other ways to connect with my daughters! We dont' need no stinkin rice krispy treats..we do fun stuff like toilet papering the neighbor's house..make crank phone calls at 1 in the morning...leaving a dirty litter box in front of the mean old ladies house up the street...at night if the police helicopters fly over we use flash lights and run back and forth in the yard...yeah..why would we need rice krispie crap!

Do your kids hate you because you have never spent time with them?  All wounds shall be healed in the 10 minutes you spend making Rice Krispies Treats together! Wacko

Don't you just love the way they cater to all race too, lol. And they don't want to be sexist so they have Grandpa helping the kiddies make the treats on a rainy day. I'm so over that stupid black and white with a little color scheme too!Angry

What happened to the good ol days, Jen, when Mom's and daughters really bonded over menial household chores and the dreaded wedding night chat? I was progressive though as a mother. I had my street corner and my daughter had hers. I taught her everything I know. She got her first pair of Ho-Heels at 13Clap. It makes a mother so proud, sniffle, sniffle. It was a little disappointing when we had to discontinue the Satanic blood sacrifices after all those drunks we rolled went missing though.Cry Here I thought we were performing a community service by getting those poor homeless winos off the street. Ingrates!Angry

I was, sniffle, sniffleCry, hoping to pass down my stilettos and pocket .38 down to my daughter one day! She'll never know the pleasure of walking back and forth in front of the A-OK food store and trolling for Johns in her mother's own footprints. That's it! Goodbye cruel world! I'm hanging up my garter and push up bra for good. Ya know...I have this burning sensation...Wink LOL

That's been popular on and off since at least about ' 88, and in spite of all the "arty" things I like, I almost never see the attraction it. Between it and the fully BW things on TV (I mean the later ones, of course, not the ' 50s-' 60s things), I don't see how the past can be called "the black and white days." In some ways, RIGHT NOW is the "black and white days."

I pretty much hate all the Rice Krispies commercials they make these days.
