You've seen it - the 'Dancin' Progressive Bling Dollar'.
Flo..."Go Big Money - I mean it - its your break..."

There is just NO way I can take this commercial...not even passed the hell out.
I don't like suffering alone...now...if I can find the 'hip-speaking old guy'(oh, he needs a lesson in 'Engrish'!)...

I gotta admit, I get a kick out of the Progressive commercials. Something about Flo's facial expressions and occasional deadpan reactions cracks me up. Big Money's dejected reaction at the end was hilarious.

I liked this one at first, but over airing it made me hate it.

"Do I still get all the dagnabbit coverage I need?"

For some reason, this just pisses me off.  I don't think the "dagnabbit" is used correctly there.    "Dagnabbit" is a euphamism for "Damn it" or "god damn it."  (no offense here.)     (see:   http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/dagnabbit )

And in this context it makes no sense:    "Do I still get all the damn it coverage I need?"

Just like "dagnabit" was used incorrectly in the commercial, I think Geico got the therapist one wrong, too.  I've always heard "namby pamby", not "mamby pamby".

I agree with both of you but especially on the "dagnabbit" one.  The first time I saw commercial I thought that it didn't sound right.

Pa, I'll bet we already do use expressions that the younger people no longer use.  The beautiful part is, we just don't know which ones, and even that they're no longer being used.  So, we'll just go into senior-hood as blissfully unaware as the guy in the commercial.

Examples:  "bummed out", "easy does it", "hang in there", "get it on".  Do young people say these?  I don't know.  Maybe they do.  Or maybe they don't.  But if they don't, it's not gonna stop me, by gum!

I don't know, I think the old-timer deserves to be cut some slack! I don't think there's anything wrong with him other than that he's a hard-boiled old geezer who's no pushover and doesn't want to be taken for a ride by some ditsy dumb Dora like Flo! As a matter of fact, Flo probably gives him the heebie jeebies, and he just wishes she'd spread out and leave him alone to scope out what insurance is available for his jalopy! After all, it's hard to take a birdbrain like Flo seriously sometimes. Flo doesn't seem to get it, but the way she bugs the customers, she probably brings a lot of them down and actually costs Progressive a lot of walk-in business. Old dudes like that don't appreciate someone coming on like gangbusters with the hard sell or doggin them around about how much dough they're going to save. In the end, we never find out whether the old guy thinks Progressive's insurance is the cat's pajamas, or if he's just acting all giddy because he wants to put the Kabosh on Flo's parade. Clap

That's what I've said all along. Love or hate the actual commercials, she definitely knows how to be a comedienne.

I just don't get how anyone can like this stupid b*tch.  Seriously.  Her voice is like a cheese grater on my spine.

What I like about her is that she's bubbly and beaming, high-volume, with a flip of dark hair and a face like a lollipop. She irks as she endears, bemuses as she bewitches. She's a bundle of energetic contradictions, bursting here, retracting there. Her expressions blink and change like a neon sign. Her eyes are popping globes. And she just sold you a bunch of car insurance.

OK.  That wasn't me.  It was a cut/paste from an article about her.  LOL

You really summed it up. To a large degree, I'm one of those "accepted standards of beauty" types who are always getting picked on for being narrow-minded (even when they're not), so the fact that I think she's as cute as I do might be saying a lot.
(Besides, in that one area that you really get picked on for mentioning, she does fit that "accepted standard.")

I think she's cute in her own way...Until she opens her mouth.  Then the pain ensues.

Hi guys - first time posting here.

ITA that Flo would be absolutely adorable if they didn't make her act in such stupid commercials.

The money suit guy and Pickles the "claims specialist" (aka mop dog that can push a button) aggravate me, though. :/
