Why not just call them what they are...? Burnt Cheez-Its!!! Not hard to imagine how these things came to be. Some line worker in the production dept set the timer on the oven wrong and before anyone found out, they had burned a whole days worth. Rather than toss a ton of slightly burnt, but still edible product in the dumpster, a couple of geniuses in the marketing and product development depts got together and called an emergency meeting. They came up with a BS name, had the art & graphics dept whip out a new box design on the computer then sent the file to the printer.
