I keep odd hours, when I was working full time I always woke up early to go to work. I was pretty much my own boss and I worked in shops that didn't have air conditioning. If I start at 4 AM, I had 8 hours in by 12 noon.  It becomes a habit that carries over into winter too.

I know the wife sleeps better after I get up.  I'm not tossing and turning and farting all over the place.

It smells good to me! Embarrassed

I fall asleep watching TV then can't get back to sleep after I get up to turn everything off and go to bed.

Pisses me off!!!!

Sometimes I'll be just drifting off to sleep when my gol durned cat will choose that very instant to take a flying leap across four feet of space from the arm of the chair to the edge of the bed, landing about a foot from my head.

I'd say he weighs around 12lbs.

If you're ever just drifting off to sleep and suddenly a 12lb hunk of meat, bones and fur comes flying through space and lands on the mattress about a foot from your head, it WILL jolt you awake.

Cats Mickey and Mal seem to know what time I get out of bed, and decide that it should be a half hour sooner.  Try as I might, I can't win.  Mal would first meow.  Then he'd rub his face against mine.  Then he'd lick my face.  When all that failed, he'd get on my nightstand and start knocking things off.

Mal doesn't do that these days, as he can't jump onto the bed anymore.  I miss it.

Try falling asleep listening to the radio instead.  I have mine on all night, whether it's tuned to my favorite music station or to my favorite right-wing talk radio shows.

When I fall asleep watching TV, I'm not trying to. I'm trying to watch TV but fall asleep in spite of myself. The reason I can't get to sleep afterwards, is because I just had a nap and am wide awake.

I used to listen to the radio like that, though. I'd put on this really soft, orchestral music and turn the volume way down. Talk radio would probably be good too, though. I'd probably opt for that UFO/paranormal guy out in Arizona though. If he's still on.

I've always suffered from bad sleep habits. One thing I've found to help is if I take me pillow and rearrange myself onto the foot of the bed. But if I forget I've done this I wake up and the whole room is bass ackwards. Takes me a minute to realize the light switch is on the other side.

This has been an o going problem for decades.. I've tried every remedy and just came to the conclusion I'm a weird sleeper.

I should just quit trying to watch the late night talk shows. That's when I always fall asleep. And there's really no reason to sit up and watch anymore anyway. Letterman is gone and the guys who are on now, Fallon, Colbert and Kimmel aren't even funny. But I still just have to scratch that itch for some late night yuks, even if it's just in vain hopes that I'll actually find something to laugh at.

I have to change my routine.

Instead of just sitting there in my chair, I should, as soon as the 11 o'clock news is over, take my meds, check the doors and windows, turn off all the lights, etc, etc, then set the sleep timer on the TV for one hour, then lie down. By the time it shuts off, I should be asleep.

Jimbo, someone said something like,"Jimmy Fallon gets laughs because he LOOKS funny."

My name is Donathan, pronounced the same way you pronounce Jonathan, except with a D.😀 Hitting on a Lesbian who speaks to you and about you like trash means you're REALLY desperate! 😀

Could be that.

Or it could be that the kind of people who comprise his audience have weak taste in humor and will laugh at anything no matter how unfunny it is to people with an actual sense of humor.

I don't remember when I last had a good nights sleep. My brain can't seem to shut off.

^ I had one of those nights last night.

I'm not sure I slept at all!  It's a very pleasant moment when you know you are drifting off to sleep.

I had gotten sent home from work for falling asleep in my office work area . one day I went to work at 5am , arrived at 545 and started at 6am , a couple co workers said I looked terrible , pale and gaunt .
Prework meeting my supervisor says I look zombie-like ..which is usually a compliment . Told me to go home , use a sick day and get some sleep . I left and during the hour drive home , fell asleep at a stop sign and then again at a red light . Honking cars woke me . I decided to go to the ER instead of home . When I walked in at my local hospital the reception nurse didn't even ask for ID , sending me back to a triage room upon arrival . I sat on the bed , then leaned over and put my head on the pillow , out like a light . What seemed like only a few seconds to me was really about 20 minutes , I woke up with an IV in my hand and surrounded by almost everyone working the ER that morning . A nurse was standing over me telling me to relax and the machines do for me what I couldn't do on my own . I had been intubated , that was what woke me up . My lungs had collapsed and a machine was pumping oxygen into my body , keeping me alive . If I had gone home that day instead of the ER , I would have laid down , fell asleep and slept the big sleep . My lungs would have failed and I would've died in my sleep ..that would've sucked ?

Damn!!!!

Did they find out what caused your lungs to collapse???

Thank God you chose to go to the ER!!!

I'm guessing you probably have decent insurance too. The reason I say that is because usually, uninsured people won't choose to seek medical help in such a situation if they know they're going to get hit with thousands of dollars in medical bills.

If you had insurance and it helped you decide to go to the ER, thank God for that, too.

Glad you made it!!!

I was working at the second job I've ever had in my life . started working 3 months out of HS at Sherwin Williams in Chicago Illinois , worked there until they closed and then started this job , was there almost 20 yrs . I'm 46 now and finally got Disability through SS last year June . the lung thing happened May 2013 , 5 yrs ago this week .( wow ? ) , I had full coverage insurance then . my lungs were being crushed by strep inside my chest . the more the bacteria grew the less my lungs could inflate . they tried liquidizing it in my chest and sucking it out with a vacuum pump . but it was too thick . so the Dr . split open my ribs and scooped it out . bit by bit , like hard pudding . then he had to do what's called ,    decordification , my lungs were wrapped in a scab like membrane . he cut all the little strands and let my lungs open up again , like unfurling a sail on a boat . I was in for 18 days , when I got home my wife tells me she can't take care of a sick husband and a new baby , born March that year , with Downs Syndrome . she packed up the whole house , furniture and all . all I had left was a bed , three drawer little dresser . a recliner chair scratched to ribbons by her cats and a kitchen table and one chair . I filled for disability that October 2013 ..denied ...appealed ...denied again ..finally saw a judge March 7th 2017 , won disability June 2017 ...lived here alone , making the best of it I can ..ain't that about a bitch ?
