I couldn't believe what I was seeing the first time I saw one of these sappy, drippy new commercials for Cash America Pawn shops.

They have a male version too but I couldn't find it.

In both ads, some poor sap is getting all emo as they confide in their Cash America Pawn "counselor"/trusted old friend.

Gimme a friggin break. Has anyone ever been in a Cash America pawn shop? It's just a room full of used junk with wary-looking people behind the counter who seem like they're afraid you're gonna whip out a gun & rob them.

You're lucky if one of them will even make eye contact with you, much less treat you like an old friend.

And seriously.... how many people develop a relationship with a Cash America pawn shop clerk?

Puh - LEASE.

This is a blatant, cheesy, attempt at emotional manipulation at it's worst.

Sick

Their slogan should be "Cash America.... we cash in on your misfortune!!!"

Oh, Lord.

Well, I guess it's kinda like how McDonald's employees are portrayed as being these friendly, fresh-faced young people who want nothing more than to make you smile.

And the reality is, at least in my small town, employees (at Mcdonalds) that look like they should be hanging out at pawn america. Not so fresh faced, greasy haired, multiple tats and piercings. My only thought is  I hope you washed your hands before prepareing any food.

ConfusedTheir HQ was in Fort Worth when we lived there...about a 6-story building.
Don't know if they still are there - they took a direct hit from an F4 tornado, some years back. I actually was called in for that one and did nothing but stand outside the wreckage next to  (our at the time) the pickup truck and take pictures, drink beer, and ward off hookers. They are a SLIME organization - they got hit so hard, all kinds of stuff was hanging off of the wreckage called their building. Couldn't save any of their computers...don't remember even really trying.

Most of it probably wound up getting Super-Glued back together & sold in their pawn shops. LOLLOL

Pawn shops are, by nature, sorta seedy places where, with some exceptions I'm sure, sorta seedy people (Thor's friends Big smile) go to get some quick drinking money, or rent money after they used what was supposed to be their rent money as drinking money.

I've only been in Cash America stores a few times (there are several around here) but I can tell you for sure I've never seen hispanic fashion models either working there or pawning jewelry there.

What a crock of sh*t.
