Okay, so I dont want to start a war between vegetarians/people who eat meat, so dont start.
What gets to me is the fact that there are so many
obese, fat people in this country. Maybe instead of
pork/bacon/butter, commercials should show healthier food and less fatty meat.

All this bacon craze, even in commercials, is so
annoying. Bacon is pure fat, way to go America for
producing more obesity.

Too much fast food, in my opinion.  People stop and get fast food for breakfast, lunch and dinner without giving it a second thought.  This has come to be considered normal, especially considering that the habit's been passed on through several generations now.  Chances are that even Grandma likes McDonalds food these days.  I know kids who think fast-food burgers are the standard, and the real ones that their parents occasionally cook in the kitchen or on the grill are pale imitations.

Also, even when people cook at home, they cook a lot of fast, processed stuff.  Everything's gotta be "bursting with flavor".  That translates to lotsa cheese, ranch dressing, sugar, etc.

Bacon is okay every once in a while, but not every damn day. And, studies say that eating 2 pieces of regular bacon(full on fat with oil) is better than eating 2 pieces of low-fat/fat free bacon in oil because you are still hungry after eating the diet bacon, but you are satisfied after eating the full on fat.

Real bacon comes from the back of the pig, not the belly, so no, Bacon isn't pure fat. Poor-people's bacon is....Let's call it Ppacon! :D

Has anyone ever wondered why there's no such thing as pig milk or pig butter?  Why no dairy pigs?

I never thought of this till now, myself.

^  In that case, it'd be a perfect job opportunity for "little people".  And children, too.

Lo and behold, a quick google search turns up

Quote

So, when I ask the guy at the Flying Pigs stall at Union Square, he cracked a smile and launched into an explanation:

"First of all, a cow udder is soft and easy to pull, and not hard to get milk from. A pig's teats are hard and hidden, and the piglets really have to work to get at them.

"Second, a pig is not cooperative the way a cow is. You'd have trouble even catching a pig to milk it.

"Third, the consistency is not at all like cow's milk. It's more watery.

"Fourth, pig milk is really gamy. You know how goat's milk is? I like it, but lots of people don't. Pig milk tastes even stronger than that."

Interesting. I will say I don't like goat's milk, but I love goat's cheese. IT's just a flavour better suited to a solid, y'know?

I guess I should try goat's cheese one of these days.  Not goat's milk, though.  I'd probably gag before it even reached my lips.  Besides, it'd have to be low-fat.  I like milk to be practically like water.

No, milk should not be "gamy".   Moose is gamy, not milk.  Now, I'm imagining the taste of moose milk.

Mind you, one of the comments said that pigs milk is up to 9% fat, so this guy may be wrong on the watery count.

Yeah, Gamy isn't the best word. Definitely doesn't come to mind when I think of Goat's milk. Pungent, pastoral, or rich are terms I'd find more apropos.

goat cheese is good - tangy..  If I had to describe it, I'd say texture closer to cream cheese & flavor closer to feta

I won't even do milk from a cow, let alone a goat or a pig.

And that was even before watching Kingpin which possibly could have steered me away from ever drinking milk again:

I would never eat or drink anything that came out of a goat.

Might eat the meat if I was really hungry & it was grilled right.

Exactly - moderation! I haven't had bacon in probably 7 months. I have a package in the refrigerator that I am cracking open this weekend (Boars Head - yes, dammit, I splurged!) and I will savor every single bite. And that will do me for another 8 months.

Or Christmas... LOL
