Once again thanks are due to Google, who told me just who the hell this chick is.

Melanie Amaro, the girl in the commercial, won the TV contest The X Factor, and her appearance in this ad was actually part of her prize package.

Elton John reprises the role he has always had in my nightmares, as the evil hipster king in plastic sunglasses.

This is another ad full of useless "cameo" appearances (if there can be such a thing in a 30 or 60 second piece). Flavor Flav is recognizable to me, because I am 34. The other people aren't celebrities I'm going to be able to place. Are they X Factor judges, fellow contestants, actual living famous people, or just actors hired for the commercial? I don't know.
I know how to recognize that I'm being told to recognize these people - I just don't.

I was mildly amused until I saw Flava Flav.  Then I didn't like the entire commercial.

I could do without the Flava Flav cameo.
One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off

Elton John = automatic win.

Thumbs up.
It's ok, I'm in marketing!

My vote for worst commercial of the evening.

Ok, I just found out this morning who the hell that girl was that was singing. Apparently she won some singing contest and Pepsi figured everyone in America knew that. Second, what was the significance of having Elton John as the king? You could've casts Pauly Shore in that role and the commercial would've been the same. Lastly, Flava-Flav? You just know the "writers" for this train wreck knew the ad was awful, so they attempted to insert a cheap lazy laugh right at the end. All around dumb.

The only thing I can think of is that he had a song many years ago (back when he was good) called The King Must Die.

Really? Boy I hope the folks at Pepsi weren't hurt making that stretch.

So well put!! And since when do we think of Elton John as a "king" of music? He's legendary, but what does some pop diva care if she impresses HIM?? Maybe if she were a piano player, yeah the pressure would be on then.

But Aretha was in this too I think? Okay, I could see a young singer freaking out over Queen Franklin, but having Elton there......meh.

I wish somebody could have used a trap door on the X-Factor show.

LOVED this! My second favorite commercial of the night(first being the cheeta!)
Elton in those rocking shoes sold it to me.
Please, stop saying "Awesome" in commercials! Your actors are not awe-inspiring and neither is your product.

I like it!

I hope Elton John would do the Halftime Show next year...but that'll happen when Cleveland wins a Championship!
Thank God for kids who love Obscure Things.
