Having tried both yesterday, I say:

KGC: a little dry and kinda bland. Definitely needed some kind of sauce to liven it up a little. I wish Roy Rogers was a big enough chain to counter with their own. There's one not 1/4 mile from a KFC near me.

Throwback: First impression was that they made it taste like Coke, but I like it. I'm drinking it from cans so that's bound to color my opinion until I have some out of a bottle. Got a great deal on it though: 4 12-packs for $11. Thanks, Target!

IT WAS SWEET! but it was a light sweet, and it didn't taste like something filtered through a gym sock, (kudos to whoever said that sorry I can't remember the name) it was light and tasty and it reminded me of a taste in soda I haven't remembered since the early 90's. It was GOOD!

WHY the f**k did they replace this sweet taste of sugar with the godawful taste of high fructose corn syrup YECH! now if only the Pepsi Throwback comes in bigger liter bottles then they'll have a WINNER!

now to Kentucky Grilled Chicken:

DELICIOUS!!!Thumbs%20Up it was hot and delicious! it was good, tasty and it finally didn't have that nasty greasy aftertaste you get from Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Now if only these guys would do a throwback flavor which taste like the old Kentucky Fried Chicken then I'll go for THAT!

Grilled>Fried taste-wise.

you gotta try both of these products, it's an experience you won't forget. Big%20smile

I tried Pepsi Throwback and I absolutely adore it! I found it tasted much cleaner and not as much aftertaste as regular Pepsi made with HFCS.

BTW, they switched over to corn syrup because it is cheaper than cane sugar.

I did find it in a 12-pack at Target. Most often I find it at Convinence Stores.

I have not tried KFC Grilled Chicken yet. I stopped going there when they changed the oil. Now their fried chicken tastes like leftover chicken. Yuck!

Wasn't able to try the Throwback, but I did try a sample of KFC's Grilled Chicken.

And...it's not worth the hype. First, the KFC I went to gave me and every customer a tiny wing (cheapskates) as a sample. Second, the chicken isn't unique. I could of (and have) made better grilled chicken. It's dry and barely seasoned, no spice or anything. Just a bit of salt.

Pepsi Throwback did exactly that for me.  It threw me back in time when I drank some of it!  I even poured it into some vintage Pepsi bottles that I have been saving for years to complete the effect. I have known for YEARS that sodas have changed taste since the latter 1980s!  That is why I stopped drinking them.  Because they are LABELED as the drinks I grew up with, but they are NOT the drinks I grew up with!

When I was a kid (mind you this was 50 years ago), we were allowed to have 1/2 bottle of Pepsi.  This was a 12 ounce glass bottle.  My mom would pour it in a glass, and then the bottle was re-corked with a cork designed for pop bottles.

It was a treat, not expected.

We sometimes had to share sodas when I was a kid too!  I always wanted my own, and my children are no different.

We were allowed to have a glass or small bottle of soda twice a week, and ice cream on Saturday nights.  There were exceptions, of course, but basically, that was it.

Oh, and the soda wasn't Coke or Pepsi or 7up or some other corporate brand.  Usually, it was the more local brand (Peterman's or Hoffman's, in central Jersey) that came in all sorts of flavors---raspberry, lime, birch beer, sarsaparilla, cherry, orange---made with pure cane sugar, of course.

Intersting...brings back memories I haven't had in YEARS.

I remember Lawrence Ave, in downtown Chicago - my Aunt's place, cousins and all...RC Cola (always a case on the back porch - and always cold) and 'Moon Pies' - no joke. Went well with Tareyton cigarettes...(which tasted like smoking frog skin).

Oooh, I remember Roy Rogers.  Yum.  Are there even any left in MA?

I got the Pepsi Throwback when it was being test-marketed in RI, absolutely love the stuff.  Haven't seen it in my neck of the woods, hopefully it's just a matter of time...

Still can't find Throwback Pepsi here in the south west corner of California. Don't know why. Not even at BevMo.

I'm starting to believe they ceased production - cannot find it here, either. Can find the Mountain Dew Throw-Back all the time.

I think I have a Coke, a Pepsi & a Mountain Dew bottle.

And I also sometimes pour Coke into the old Coke bottle.

Amazing how much better it tastes (or maybe I should say "drinks") out of those old bottles.

I was never rationed on the amount of soda I could drink, but my mom never bought it so the only times I ever drank it was when I bought one out of a machine.

I was not a big soda drinker when I was a kid.

Back then, a 10 oz. bottle was 10¢.

I think when I was in high school, the machine by the cafeteria charged around 35¢ for a can.

We can still find the Mountain Dew Throwback every day - but Pepsi Throwback has been impossible to find the last few months (I liked it).
