Nice job, Nissan.  First you promote driving atop trains which you do admit is impossible.  Now you promote blaring your car's Bose sound system loud enough so everyone within a 10 mile radius can hear it, which is flat out asshole-ish.   Somebody needs to run this prick off the road or into a utility pole, pronto.

Fun and entertaining the first few go around. Highly irritating and annoying the next round. If I ever see this commercial again I'm punching the TV with my fist!

Thanks to this commercial, I now HATE that song!

I think in a more realistic depiction of this commercial he would get middle fingers and shouts of "hey! Would you turn that stupid sh*t down!"

What you're seeing is a rare glimpse into the loud music bumper's fantasy world. They probably actually do think they're functioning as the world's DJ!

In reality, he would've gotten pulled over and ticketed for noise violation, like I did back in '08. Cost me $80! And it wasn't even loud! City cops running a racket, I swear.

More realistically, it's rap music that people blast from their cars.  I wouldn't mind it quite as much if it wasn't coupled with the rattling license plate frame supplying extra percussion.

^^ Actually I am surprised they didn't go with some hip hop trash instead of rock, like some song by some up and coming "artist" to help push his or her career.  I guess they wanted to appeal to a broader generation span than just the yutes.

Wait, just the what?

All this ad does is remind me of all the nights spent in the NCO club back in the late '80s, when they used to play this song at least twice and everyone shouted the obscene version of the chorus...
"Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is no way to go through life, son...."

It's my understanding that "Ride the pony" isn't referring to being an equestrian...so I find the elementary schoolers on the bus shrieking that part of the song a tad disturbing.

Thanks for ruining a song that I actually kinda enjoyed.

How the hell do all the kids on the bus know this song? Only in Commercial Land.

Put him on a racetrack with a bunch of rookies from iRacing. That should do the trick.

I see that the "obscene version" referred to by yeesh might be this, from Wikipedia:

Idol's version of the song gave rise to an interesting custom in the 1980s. When the song was performed live in concert or played at a club or dance, people would shout a certain formulaic (and usually obscene) sentence in the two bars following each line. One example is: "Hey mother f**ker! Get laid! Get f**ked!" This custom led to the song being banned at high school dances across North America, although it continues at Idol concerts today.

Yep that would be the one. Plus, the "Mony,Mony" chorus would be changed to "Fu*&in' Bulls*&t!", unless that was just an NCO club thing...

LOL Somehow, I knew it wouldn't be long before someone posted this one. "Asshat" in the car looks like Vanilla Ice. Anyway, I always preferred the live version of this song.

In 2002 I drove my new car home from the dealership. I stopped at my mailbox before pulling into my driveway. I had been enjoying my decent stereo at a reasonable volume. As I walked around the front of the car It sounded like something was self destructing in the engine compartment! I then realized it was the dealer's license plate frame rattling. It was an easy repair. One screwdriver, a few minutes, and a few steps to the recycle bin.

I thought the Tommy James version had "ride the pony." I checked and it didn't, although like other Tommy James songs it had suggestive lyrics. Here are the lyrics from Billy Idol: " I wanna ride your pony, ride your pony,
Ride your pony come on, come on." I'm thinking it may be a case of a popular song when I was 15 or 16 y/o being covered 13 years later with the more recent memories overriding the old ones.

Yes. Only in commercial land! Last Month I was on a Disney World bus sitting behind the driver who was about my age. He got on the intercom and asked the passengers to use their phones and search Mickey Mouse Club March lyrics. I told him my dumb phone didn't do internet but I remembered the song from the 1950s. He said that was the correct song. The driver, myself, and a handful of other Grandparents sang the song followed by the goodbye song. The 50 young parents and kids were not interested. I'm guessing their smart phones are only used for texting, yakking, social media, and playing games. History is so yesterday and not important or interesting. It made me very sad. The kids on the commercial's bus would have no knowledge of a 1968 (Tommy James) or 1981 (Billy Idol) song.

Useless trivia:

Tommy James entitled the song Mony, Mony after seeing a sign on a building for MONY (Mutual of New York).
