This commercial has been airing a lot lately - Nissan Midnight. Can we safely assume the Mom is a "helicopter parent?" If I were that kid I'd pretty much be embarrassed that my "Mom" had to follow me around the block while I ride my big wheelie. And what's with the 'girl crush?' Something more going on here? weird. Seriously, who wears a helmet to ride..... oh .003 mph? This commercial sums up everything I hate about millenials in 30 seconds or less.

I thought the Mom was just getting home from work or shopping, whatever, while her little girl was tearing up the neighborhood on her tricycle.  I was hoping that the blonde girl was fixating on the other girl's wheelie, not her, but since it's in the agenda to promote same-sex relationships now on TV commercials, I'm not so sure.  Gross.  At that age?  Shocked  The mother's self-satisfied smug face tops it all off with cringiness.  That music is instahate and instamute!  Angry

I don't see what is not mainstream about the Nissan Midnight.  Is it because Mom doesn't care that her little darling just got black paint all over the driveway?  Confused

Yes! And the paint the little angel spills all over the driveway magically turns into driveway art?

WOW! The power of a new CUV with fancy black rims.  You go girl!

I've been seeing that piece of crap on TV multiple times every day, but have only barely paid any attention to it, so until I watched the YouTube clip in this thread, I'd never actually noticed any if the little details like the exchanged looks between the little girls or the mom & daughter thing. All I actually noticed before, was the paint spilling thing at the end. And of course, the hideous music.

My Gawd, what an utter piece of shït.

They could paint in Go Lime green paint and stick 1970s billboard decals on it and I still wouldn't be enticed to buy it! Midnight or not its still BORING!
One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off

I don't like all black vehicles. Especially when the rims are black, too.

I guess the "all black" look is supposed to be cool or something - like you're driving incognito in a spy-mobile lol

I live in a semi rural area with dust, mud, and highway spray. I have no use for black or white vehicles.

I'm thinking the target audience for this steaming piece is the person who lives in the most cookie cutter suburb possible, but who likes to think of themselves as an iconoclast. Look at that neighborhood that the "against the mainstream" Nissan owner lives in... The really weird lusty look between the kids at the beginning starts to hint of those Cox Gigablast ads. Not kosher.

The all black-on-black thing is sort of a 'super under cover, "HEY! I'm NOT A COP!"-look.
Nobody suspects until the grill lights up.
Yea, just the absurd look an SUV needs, right? Well, I think it looks better than poop brown.

I've heard it called the "murder look",  Black paint, black interior, black wheels.  Often, the paint is flat black.

They're related to "rat rods":

And then there's "steam punk":

I don't know how you piled 'rat rods' in there...LOL
I like rat rods but they aren't color-related - I see them as more 'artwork' without distinctive color'.
~~~
Anyway - back to the commercial....what kind of idiot leaves open paint in the middle of the driveway? You know 'Mom' was well-aware as she had no problem missing the opportunity to make a mess and 'Mini-Me' also was aware because she hit it straight on.
The way the commercial should have ended? Little brat bawling her brains out while getting the whipping of a lifetime (from 'Dad', who is  with the 'Big Wheel' broken into pieces and sitting next to the garbage cans, at the curb while 'Mom', obviously still steaming, is writing a check to the service guy that came and cleaned the cement of any trace of paint.
This is my take on the ad:
I think that the entire premise is "bad-ass little girl power".
The exchange of looks between her on her bad-ass black Big Wheel and the other little girls on their cute little pink ones is saying that she is the bad-ass little queen of the neighborhood and her black Big Wheel and black attire shows it. She acknowledges the other little girls while knowing they are in fear and awe of her.
And of course, all those same characteristics transfer over to mommy in her black Nissan SUV.
The knocked over paint that magically turns into tribal design art in the driveway is just a way to put an exclamation point on the whole idea that buying one of these black Nissan SUVs will make you awesome cool as is evidenced by the way the little girl high fives her mom and struts away from the scene like some kind of street gang boss.
IOW, just more of the same old feminist empowerment PC bullsh*t propaganda that's so prevalent in commercials nowadays.
You're probably correct, but I still think we need some 'corrective action' for the spilled paint. The message must get out that we are not going to work our tails off only to allow the females squander the hard-earned fruit of our labors. "MY bucks, Bitch!"
The little girl is obviously the badass of the neighborhood. Great thinking, Nissan!
I didn't really see the young lesbian thing and my mind is in the gutter all of the time.
Technically, an adult walking is about 3 MPH. That little deviant is moving much faster than that.
The way she is looking at her mom, she might run into a parked car. Bruised knees to 'dirty' knees in her high school years.  Evil Smile
Just that they're all customized, but not in the usual way.  Rat rods are more "uglified" than beautified.  In other words, you probably won't see them at Barrett-Jackson.
More female empowerment nonsense.  Here's the "Fearless Girl" statue on Wall Street that's been in the news lately.
Yeah, I heard about that.
The artist who created the bull is suing, too.
Hope he wins.
They should (ahem...) "erect" a statue of a flasher perv opening up his trench coat and stand her bravely in front of THAT.
Or lay the statue down, face-up, beneath the bull's lower half.
Convert the bull statue into a "fountain" of sorts.
Or something like the rhino gif I sent you.
