Agreed.   Don't start immediately accusing them of being Donathan.

In that case, treat them like they're not till it's totally clear that they are.

I hate to have a "guilty until proven innocent" mentality, but... I'll be keeping interaction with new members to a minimum until I'm satisfied they're not a Donnie or a Darko.

There have been no signs of that forum member that annoyed so many people.
I don't like being singled out for jumping the gun.

Just don't give in to the temptation to kick him if he shows up again.

If a new member suddenly begins posting ala Donathan, just let him hear the sound of crickets chirping.

He'll get tired of that before long and disappear again.

Well I certainly don't want to steal any credit from you.

But seriously, if you're tired of an annoying poster, give them the cold shoulder and they'll get tired of being ignored then go find some other group to bother.

DisapproveYea...I guess you're right....but I really, really, really feel like damaging the damaged, these days.
I just feel all 'mean' and whatnot....just all ugly and brutal - you know how it is...kinda like 'that man time-of-month'...all that blood, but it ain't mine. And I don't recall if everything gets all sunny & bouncy & light-hearted once again, say after about a week...

That's why I've been spending a bit more of my free time on the ol' consoles. Running up behind a brute and wailing him over the head until his helmet pops off, exposing the tender, pulpy, smashable nugget underneath has sated a little bit of my bloodlust.

Yes, I too was finding convenience in a resident punching bag to get my frustrations out on, and I too, found the need for a placebo of sorts.

THAT is why I'm not yet ready to give up video games, my old lupine friend. Wink

I don't think any authorities are looking for me... at least not yet.

Shocked

Oh yeah, not sure exactly where we stand on that. I figured they'd tell me tomorrow morning over coffee.

I'm not even sure what the problem they have with him is... maybe he didn't single-handedly put an end to crime quickly enough.

Edit: Nope, he am fired. Time to go downtown and get all anarchy-y and stuff.

I can't think of anyone showing up at CIH and sounding like Donathan, who actually was not Donathan (or one of the variations).   So he/she should be pretty easy to spot.

Still, if the post is good, I might reply even if it is a Donathan.

In the meantime, it's nice to have had the board back to "normal" this past week or so.

I don't get fooled too often (just like 'tang showing up is easy to spot and I'm never wrong), but this guy did it. Saw him on CNN,not too long after 'Baltimore' - I was actually impressed by those 10 minutes of him...then again, I once used to chat a lot with a gent by the name of Eliot Spitzer (and no - he wasn't Donathan in disguise)...

Yeah, if he posts something worth responding to, maybe responding to it will encourage him to post like a normal person more often and knock it off with the Peter Pan posts.

I'm pretty sure "it" has already posted under a new alias here, but I'm ignoring "it".  "It" will blow "it's" cover eventually on "it's" own.  "It" can't resist ('nature of the beast'), and when "it" does, I'll just keep ignoring "it."  ("It" must be feeling butthurt that nobody wants to play.)  LOL

To be perfectly honest, I've never disliked or had anything against him or his aliases. They just never bothered me. Probably because I found his goofy threads so boring, I mostly ignored them.

That having been said, the fact that he knew he was pissing everyone else off around here yet continued to antagonize, I became in favor of trying to get him to leave.

If he didn't piss everyone else off so badly, I'd be just as happy with him being here as not.

I don't hate or dislike him and he didn't piss me off.

His presence was just creating too much discord.

I live in the 'burbs, and we come complete with our own cops, so I never paid much attention to him.
"Oh, Cincinnati has a new police chief...that's nice." was about as much interest as I had. Having read up on him a little now, though... yeah, he needed to go.

I was content to bash him around... even with the knowledge that it was exactly the hoop he was setting out for me to jump through... because it was fun for me. I got a lot of laughs out of it. Something about that gambling forum thread soured the milk though. Not sure what it was exactly, maybe the "rubbing your noses in it" feel, but I got an "ugh" moment. I don't come back from those. I honestly couldn't care less if he stays or goes, or if he has ten or a hundred active accounts... now I'm content to ignore him.
