I'm from Pittsburgh, I'm a Steeler fan and I admire and like Peyton Manning, but this commercial gets on my last nerve.

Oh well, at least the Nationwide logo stands for something now. I got sick of that empty box logo!

There's something utterly disturbing about a man who admitted he attempted to blow the concussion tests so he could play with a concussion shilling insurance.

Good grief this ad is annoying. It says nothing about why you should switch to them! What as waste of ad space!

Yeah, that empty blue square with the white border has got to be the most unoriginal and uninspired corporate logo ever "designed". It's like they found a way to make the concept of insurance even more boring.

And not only is the commercial stupid, but the payoff at the end isn't even done well. I guess the point is that Peyton has this jingle stuck in his head, but when he finally turns on the TV and sees the commercial, he doesn't even really look like he's having an "A-ha" moment to remember why he was humming that tune all day. Maybe it's just bad acting.

Just 3 weeks into the NFL season and I am already sick of Peyton Manning, not just on the field but in the commercials. It's going to be a looooooong season. And Manning has the nerve to brag that Colorado's marijuana laws have helped his Papa John's franchises.

LOLCouldn't put my finger on why I can't stand him so much, but THANKS Cap'n! THAT is what has been eating at me!
...and the commercial? Possibly the most annoying one on the idiot box, these days - think we even have a thread for jingles one can't get out of their head.

This commercial blows.
Humming might well be the by-product of a low-attention state, which probably lends credence to the earlier helmet comment?

Both sentences in that post are tied for Biggest Understatement of the Year.  Enough with Peyton Manning and his hayseed accent already.  He's worse than Miley Cyrus's tongue, for God's sakes.  The motherf**ker is seriously EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME.

Exactly!  Use a guy who is overexposed to the max, show his drab daily minutiae, humming an insipid jingle, and completely avoid a pitch for your product.  Brilliant!!

I didn't even know who Peyton Manning was, actually.  I've seen this commercial several times before and even without knowing who the "actor" was, it irritated the crap out of me.  This evening after seeing it again I did a search for "Nationwide" "humming" and... bingo.  I haven't seriously disliked any of Nationwide's commercials (despite the annoying jingle) until this one.  As others have said, it gives no description of the services they offer, no explanation of what the company even is.  To be honest, now that I know this guy is actually a famous person, I dislike it even more than before, because it adds an extra layer of annoying to the commercial: the guy is in it seemingly for no good reason other than to just "be" in it (and irritate people with his "singing").

Probably one of my ten worst of the year just because of how horrendously dumb it is.

As if this series of commercials wasn't bad enough, remember, he's also the spokesman for Papa John's. There's no avoiding his moron! How did this clown learn the English language? By watching old Deputy Dawg reruns?

Beg to differ. Back in the day as a kid he wore a helmet, one of those hockey helmets that riders of the half loaf/special ed short bus donned when travelling to and from their drool school. Peyton just comes across as retarded in this retarded commercial. Only thing worse is when he's with shifty "short eyes" Papa John hawking cat turd pizza with fritos and Nutella.

This commercial is worse then "Flo" from Geico!! I mean literally, I get the chills and want to puke when this ridiculous commerical comes on!! It should be banned IMO!

I agree with you. What's the relevancy of having Payton chomp on a chicken parm sub singing that jingle while chewing with his mouth open. Never had any disrespect for Nationwide. Felt they were just another boring big money insurance company. This commercial doesn't add any respect. It should be quickly retired and put us out of our misery. Peyton is one of the great QB's let him stick with the gridiron or at least can the singing on commercials.
I approve this message.
