You know someone's making a good one point when they open it with an ad-hominem.

My thing is that I honestly don't care about the fact that they dropped the "Mr." because it... makes sense? The product is called "Potato Head," the characters within said product are called "Mr." and "Mrs." because it makes a lot more sense for the gender to be added to the individual character rather than the product itself, because then it sounds like "Mr. Potato Head 'Ms. Potato Head.'" I don't really care about that. I do agree that the "family structures/gender experiences/etc" bit sounds and feels like pandering, but seeing as I haven't picked up a Potato Head since I was probably three, it doesn't cause me any harm. I'm not a kid either, so I can't accurately speak on the whole "kids experiences" thing either, but I can imagine that this change would go completely unnoticed to the kids who play with them.

I'm just more interested as to why the general reaction to this change is so harshly negative and derogatory when there has been no formal advertising of this product, no commercials, no nothing except for this one subtle change to the product name. You guys are all acting like the fate of the toy product industry is in shambles when I would bet real world money none of you have played with a Potato Head since you were children. It's not like they painted the Potato Heads rainbow and called it the LGBTQIA+ Potato-Being, it's just an inclusive title drop.

Why does the character in your avatar have a beard?

Is that some kind of male gender superiority thing? 

Why can't you use a more ambiguous looking avatar character that doesn't suggest male gender preference? 

All kidding aside, we're just having fun here by being a bunch of crotchety old farts who like to say sarcastic crap about everything that bugs about today's society, which is just about everything.
