Alright, I have seen this commercial at least twice now, and every time it comes on I get thrown. That is because it has a teacher come back into a classroom and asks "where was I?" The kid in the back proceeds to go into great detail about everything she had just said as well as mention "as you were about to write on the, when you accidentally broke your chalk - in three pieces". Every time it comes on, I am absolutely positive they are about to talk about autism awareness or something related to it. Then they go into talking about how having breakfast increases a child's performance at school. I don't know what it is about the commercial, but it just doesn't feel right to me. It feels like they are obviously exaggerating, while making a commercial for another cause.

Yeah, this ad is garbage. Getting the 'rush' from eating sugar-coated hay will make your dumb kid a 'Rain man'-level genius in school?

I actually stopped eating Frosted Mini-Wheats as a child in the 1970s--I simply didn't like the taste. The cereal never did anything for my autism. What's the food industry gonna reveal next--that eating chicken nuggets contributes to autism?

They act like Mini Wheats has a special ingredient in it that makes your kid stop slacking off and pay attention. Mini Wheats never has and never will cure ADD or Autism. I thought oatmeal was the best breakfast brainfood....
Anyway I remember this episode of South Park when they tackled ADD and the fact that everyone just gave their kids Rittalin. They were then shown an "alternative" method cure where the kids who wouldn't sit still in class were yelled at "Sit down and study!!!" The kids then stopped fidgeting and paid attention. It works for me, maybe half the problem with ADD is lousy parenting? |

Actually, the commercial isn't about autism at all. It is them trying to say that Mini Wheats will give your child unbelievable memory of all details, and when I see it, I always think it is going to be about Autism or something because of the way the commercial is presented. Maybe if they gave some indication of what the show was about before going into the skit, I might have been able to go on that little trip with them.

Basically, it's "Kids who actually eat breakfast[consisting of Frosted Mini-Hay] because they aren't raised by idiots who 'never have time' to make breakfast, have been shown to pay more attention because they aren't all zoned out going, 'Dude, when's lunch?' " |
