Goofy music.

Besides the one 1/2 second clip of a lonely kid heading to an actual school, let's all spend tons of $$ at Macys / new clothes for stay at home schooling. Confused

Oh they look so happy to be doing remote learning. Where I lived, half of the kids couldn't or didn't log in, thus the teachers had a success rate of around 50% - and still passed all of them because nothing was graded. Now it looks like Inslee will be pushing for another few months of remote learning. Many are suffering without socialization and normal routine. Can't win on either side of the argument!

Weren't many kids in the basement playing video games all day even before the pandemic? And isn't a phone all they need to connect with their friends?

No sports, face-to-face socialization, no recess, playgrounds, swimming at the city pool, hanging out at the library, summer camps...that's a big chunk of their socialization right there. At least I still see children riding bikes around my town, and many families are going camping to get away from the constant stress. But in normal times (i.e. 2019, or..I'm praying..2021), we would have summer sports leagues, day camps for kids (CWU has one with arts & crafts, field trips, sports, etc. ran by college students, and we have some outdoor camps in the mountains), a packed city pool, kids biking to the library to read or play games on the computers, etc.

As much as remote learning may be needed in some areas, Zoom will absolutely NEVER replace face-to-face socialization. And in many states where they are going to in-person instruction all kids have to wear masks for several hours a day, taking away some of that socialization (i.e. facial expressions, smiles) anyways. In the district I graduated from, I believe we had five students take their own lives during the pandemic. For many students, taking away sports and whatnot at the notion of saving a few older lives, makes their lives inferior and not worth living. It's very sad. CryCry My university cancelled all fall sports including football. Seniors will lose out on their final season. Revenue from homecoming will be lost as well. We already lost the rodeo, which was half of our economy.

The best timeline we have - vaccine/treatment in early-mid fall, normalcy by January 1st, 2021 at the latest. I have big trips planned for summer 2021. Please, we don't need another massive pandemic next year either. Wink

Pfizer says October. Let's hope I'm right. That Oxford one also looks good for fall or winter. But as we all know vaccines often take a long time to develop. Polio took 20 years, mumps took 4 years...

Covid-19 is just another strain of all the previous Covids, which has shaved off quite a bit of research time.

That'll be either Covid-20 or Covid-21...
