I absolutely loathe this new Lowes commercial where this happy-go-lucky guy is standing with his wife and says: " Gee, glad that roof is done... we're finally finished!". That is until his Wife crosses her arms and gives him a dirty look. The whipped man then says something like " oh yeah...". The next screen shows some other project completed, with the same results of the shrew-like Wife simply crossing her arms in discontentment, displeased that the house is not done yet. Of course it's an impossibly perfect, upper class home to start with, but nevermind. This man's life seems to be a never-ending bout of slavery to his relentless Wife- DEMANDING that his every second is spent spending every cent he makes ( I assume she doesn't work) on their precious house. His work will NEVER be done! If I were him, it'd be divorce time right away.

I especially dislike it because I know Lowes and Home-Depot are desperate to get people to buy home repair items since everyone is broke and flippin' homes is no longer as kosher. The Lowes commercial, along with the " Its Time" Home Depot ad are especially desperate.

I feel like my wife gets annoyed when I want to do home improvement projects, like she thinks they're not that necessary and I'm usually the only one who wants it done. So the woman in this commercial doesn't bother me.

Haven't seen the Lowes ad but I've been bombarded with the "It's Time" HD ads.
I like this one:

Seriously with all these ads if this is what marriage is really like I'm glad I've managed to escape it. Sorry I got enough psychological abuse from my family and teachers as a kid I sure as hell don't need to volunteer for it now.

And notice how the daughter is behaving just as bitchy as her mom with the way she nods her head & folds her arms when the mom is spewing out yet another order at poor pussy-whipped husband.Angry

Imagine if you were married to this bitch -- you probably wouldn't have much of a sex life because nothing you did would be quite right.Cry

Okay...I for one take offense at all the comments against strong, assertive women made by all these incompitent males who only seem to be able to handle women who are quiet and submissive.  Maybe if you men would do what we tell you once in a while, we wouldn't have to nag you all the time!  What is this?  A board about bad commercials or the woman-hating forum?! Incompetent

And yeah! I can't believe you guys!!! So insensitive...

Seriously though, you must be a very good judge of character to determine (based solely on this forum) that all of the men here are incompetent, disobedient, and disrespectful to the women in their lives.

Trust me. I wasn't exactly going after the Woman anymore than the Man because I'd expect someone-anyone- to have more backbone then this guy. Its like:

" Well, ok Honey, heh-heh... Another $20,000 for a new patio? no problem!"

versus:

" Honey, I think a better use of our income might be spent on our Child's college, then we can add a patio."
 -or something like that.

Getting down to the nitty-gritty as someone who used to work in marketing, there's a reason why so many commercials show women ruling the roost, making all the buying decisions. Studies show that 80% of all home and vehicle related purchases are made or influenced by Women. Advertisers are only too aware of this, hence the portrayal of Women as the big decision makers in the ads, or in the case of the Lowes ad, to be seen as making justifiable decisions against the incompetent, stupid Husband.

Here's my standard answer for gripes like this (and I am a very happy woman, myself):

How would you feel if the gender roles were reversed?  Would you mind if the woman were being verbally and financially bullied by her husband?  Exact same lines and facial expressions but reversed genders.  Now say what you think of that (or better yet, don't.)

Whoahhhh....lol...issues!!!  If you took the time to browse around the board, you would see that most of us here, MALE AND FEMALE co-exist quite nicely, thank you very much.
And there is virtually no attacking ad hominem, except from new people who show up and don't bother to check out the rest of the forum.

That's quite a assumption. How do you get that from the commercial? I assume that she works outside the home and he doesn't, so she believes he has enough time to do these improvements. If we are going to make up background for these ads, we can come up with all kinds of situations.

No man has ANY right to treat his wife, or ANY woman, that way.  Women have been held down by men for centuries and are STILL being held down by men.  The only difference is now women are fighting back.  And, sadly, men can't handle that.  So, as far as I am concerned, a woman has every right in the world to squeeze her husband's/boyfriend's balls until he cooperates and does everything she tells him to.  But, if I ever EVER see a man treating his wife, girlfriend or ANY woman like that, I would run right over and cut his **** off!!

So, you're not about female equality; you're about female control.  The oppressed taking on characteristics of their oppressors, so to speak.

By advocating that sort of behavior, you're no better than the men whom you denounce.

Yeah, I'm sure you would you keyboard warrior...

Anyway, I'm retiring from this argument because arguing on the internet is pointless - especially with narrow-minded trolls who refuse to listen to reason.

Anyone that thinks that their Wife/husband, Boyfriend, or Girlfriend has more "power" over them, or that they have to "get back" at them for being the sex they are shouldn't be married or in a relationship. Period.

I view my Wife as my equal partner. So does she, and that's the way it should be. Anyhow, this argument is ridiculous.

Look! Here on the board!
It's a bitch! It's a harpy! It's CREAMLADY!
Yes, it's CREAMLADY...strange lurker from parts unknown, who came to CIH with bitchiness and attitude far beyond those of mortal, inherently weaker men.
CREAMLADY, who can twist others' words with her own talons; change the intended course of a logical debate; and who, described as Ronny Deutsch, annoying-ass shrewish TV pitch-cow, fights a never ending battle for crap, BS, and the 'Princess' lifestyle!
