I don't know if you have ever come across instances where you are talking to someone and you are looking in their eyes but you have trouble focusing on both.  Example:  One of my managers has a huge mole on the corner of her left eye by her nose and you can not help but notice it.  When I was talking to her the other day this was the first time I was that close to her and never knew she had it there before.  And the whole time talking with her I was so embarrassed inside because I could not you know just talk to her looking at both eyes I felt fixated on the one eye.  I sure hope she didn't notice but  I think I was quite obvious.

Another instance was someone I worked with quite a while ago her one eye went to the side and you didn't' know what eye to focus on when talking to her up close.   So embarrassing.

I know EXACTLY what you mean.

The thing to remember is that even though it's hard to tell which eye is aimed correctly, they can see how your eyes are focused.  So just pick one.

Oh I know what you mean - the Lazy Eye that moves all over the place. I try to look at the bridge of their nose.

A long time ago, there was this guy who had a glass eye. Every now & then, he'd pull it out for grins & chuckles.Dead
I never could look him straight in the eye(s) after that.

I know what you mean.  I find myself trying to figure out which eye it is that they are using.
Sometimes though, just when I figure I've got it figured out, they pull a fast one and start using the other eye.

Never have a problem with it...unless one eye is a different color from the other - like Jane Seymour or David Bowie; that messes me up.

Jane%20Seymour Search for Jane Seymour pics; hit her site. You'll see she isn't shy about it.

I worked with a guy that sneezed one of his eyes out.  I didn't know what to do, so I said,

This is a good topic. Something I think everyone deals with occasionally.

There was this crusty little bald headed, ex-Marine who recently retired as a PE coach at a local high school. I used to sub for him & the other coaches a lot. Whenever I'd sub for one of the other coaches, he'd be there & I'd have occasion to interact with him. He had one of those wandering eyes that I never knew quite what to do with, so I just looked at the one that sat still.

I've found that I have tendency to look at people's mouths when they talk. Often times, I find myself looking at their teeth. It's embarrassing. The main reason for my looking at their mouth is because I have this underlying fear that I won't hear or understand what they just said to me, so I watch their lips as an extra precaution. But if they have weird or funky teeth, I end up looking at them instead.

Once, a long time ago (when I was working at that hotel they imploded last week) I was talking to the new GM they hired to replace the old one. She was the one who started dating the Chilean desk clerk. She was an attractive, youngish gal, but she had kind of dark colored, (possibly nicotine stained) teeth. Whenever she'd talk to me, I'd find myself looking at them & one day she made a kind of snide & self depricating comment about me looking at her stained teeth.

I've been self conscious about it ever since.

I've seen MissyDWolf go into involuntary convulsions when we encounter someone that has a wandering eye. Runs right up her spine (good for a giggle); it really bugs her.

I tend to look at people's teeth, too. The worse they are, the more I stare. I've actually caught myself a few times and thought "Dear God, look away" but it's just one of those things..  Now, someone with a wandering eye AND bad teeth - well, that represents a real problem? Where does one look?

Now, Jimbo, REAL DILEMMA - what if they had a big bulbous alky nose? With a possible booger hanging out of it?

I think atthat point just look up to the heavens. And plead for mercy.

Keep one eye on their eyes, the other on their teeth - or tilt your head (easier that way) and tell 'em "I gots a condishun!". See who stares more.Wink

There was this guy on TV last night.  He had large ears, exacerbated by the fact that his dark hair sort of disappeared against the dark backdrop---making it look like he was just a face with ears.
