One of the most annoying commercials out there right now in my opinion is this stupid lays potato chips commercial with the girl getting her nails done. As the nail lady yaps away she looks over at the receptionist stuffing her face with chips and like a crackhead who won the lottery she can't control herself and nabs some for herself when the receptionist takes a phone call. The nail lady looks down and see's the b*tch just made a mess of the nails she just painted with greasy potato chip residue. She looks at the obnoxious chip monger as she slowly starts crunching away and smiling. I really truly think that if I saw this woman I would have to at least slap her in the face. The stupid smug look on her face just annoys the crap outta me, she looks like an entitled little snot. I swear I would love to smack that obnoxious chip whore across the face. Who is that crazy about plain lays potato chips anyways? It's so stupid and so annoying...immediately puts me in a irritated mood.

The worst part is that if she has grease and crumbs all over her wet nails, she was getting fingernail polish all over the chips she was eating.

The girl in the ad is pretty cute, but I still have an urge to smack her smug face.

Also, no potato chip makes that noise when you eat it. It sounds like they're eating a combination of styrofoam and broken light bulbs.

That's because in the recording studio where they taped the "potato chip crunching" sound effect, it was probably styrofoam & light bulbs that they were stepping on.

I have a friend who works as a sound effects producer, they use weird stuff all the time to get the desired sound they're looking for. He told me once they used steel wool on a concrete slab to get a tooth brushing sound.

It wouldn't surprise me if they literally crushed styrofoam and light bulb glass to get the chip noise.

Reminds me of those old 1930's, pre-TV radio dramas where they had sound effects people making all the background sounds like people walking across wooden floors, knocking on doors & weather sounds like thunder & wind, etc.

They do that on Garrison Keillor's A Prarie Home Companion, too.

Sounds like a fun way to make a living.

That crunching sound was from a fake nail that somehow wound up in the chips....  LOL

I don't think anyone else pointed out how gross it was that she ate food that someone else already touched. That was gross....

You've never eaten potato chips out of a bag somebody else was eating out of, Kenathan?

Really, that's pretty far from "gross". I double dip my chips all the time, no one in my family cares.

A few germs aren't going to hurt you. In fact they're beneficial for the immune system. Hell, people kiss all the time, what makes that acceptable if spit is so disgusting?

Nail polish in the chip bag however... that could be potentially bad.

Ken, I'm wondering what you expect could possibly happen by touching potato chips.  Spread a disease?  What's the likelihood of that?

And what's supposed to happen at parties, when people have bowls of chips on the table for their guests?  Are bowls somehow better than bags?

Glad I'm not the only one who dislikes the commercial.  It is so unappetizing to see her nails all covered with chip crumbs - ugh.

If you eat at buffets, you should probably know that food is incredibly old and food that has been sitting around cultivates heaps of bacteria. Also, you'd be just as likely to catch an airborne pathogen so do you also wear a filtration system in public or...?
It's just as fun to scare as it is to be scared

Maybe it's their new flavor. I think it would taste a hell of a lot better than "Lays Chicken and Waffles."

I gotta agree with Ken on this one. I mean we are talking about eating out of a bag of a perfect stranger that is doing god knows what between sticking her hand in the bag. Besides she is licking her fingers as well. YUCK! Buffets? Potlucks? I never eat anything home made at those things it has to be sealed. You never know who is clean or not. There was an elderly woman at the church I went to as a teen who always seemed very clean and would bake cookies and goodies for after church. I was asked to take this woman to her doctor's appointment one day and went inside her house. I went into the kitchen where she was making a batch of cookies and it was so disgusting. She had moldy food on the counter, cat poop on the counters and in the oven! I almost puked. There was another incident where I thought someone was clean until I saw that she left dirty diapers on her kitchen counter for days at a time...and were talking multiple diapers. Since then I don't trust anyone enough to eat their home made disasters.

Big difference between total stranger front desk girl who handles cash and licks her fingers between phone calls and eating out of a bag of a friends.

Sounds like you're speaking of a Foley artist here; their only job is to make sound effects such as walking across wooden floors, knocking on doors, opening & closing drawers, unlocking doors, flushing the can, washing their hands, etc.

Foley artists make & record these sounds during post, and the audio technician inserts the sounds into the appropriate segments of the prerecorded drama.

Thank you to all who agreed with me that eating food someone else touched is f-cking disgusting! I saw a movie where a guy drank out of a flask some other guy just drank out of. I damn near recoiled! I went on the movie's messageboard, and spoke on how gross it was. I was ripped a new one by posters on that board, telling me I probably was into incest because I had qualms about a guy drinking out of a stranger's flask in a movie! WTF? Some people are over zealous when you criticize a movie they love!

It's not too surprising, as someone on that same website went into snap mode because he asked if people could type backwards. So, someone humorously wrote "sdrawkcab," and the OP wrote something along the lunes of "How dare you? I have been trained as a Navy Seal and am a trained sniper. I can kill you on a thousand ways with my bare hands." WTF? Some people are lunatics!

People get psychotic when they can hide behind a keyboard. It's like everyone is secretly a psychopathic capable of murder rage-a-holic. They snap and threaten to murder you if you disagree with whether or not a movie was good or bad. It's scary. I'm a bit germaphobic so sharing food others have had their hands and mouth on is not my thing.

Dude, have you ever kissed someone? You just ingested every germ from their mouth, and vice-versa. Unless they have a flu, cold, or an open herpes sore in their mouth that's bleeding, you're gonna be fine.

In fact, you wouldn't even catch the herpes unless you had an open sore too. People need to chill out about others touching their food.

Ever been to a restaurant? LOTS of people are touching your food before it gets to the table. I used to work in one. I saw it a million times. They eat off your plate at some places before they serve it.

There's also filth and germs floating around in the air all the time. Are we gonna start walking around with respirators? No. Germs are good for you.
