Has anyone seen this one where this one kid in the Kid's Claritan commerical shouts out "And Grape flavor tastes AWESOME". Dead
I don't know about anyone else here but what kid would actually say this? To me that's like having a kid say "Broccholi and green spinich taste AWESOME!" I mean come one, For me, I've always HATED taking any medicine with grape flavor. I've always found it to taste TERRIBLE and would prefer any flavor other than grape.

Hooty...good point.
I'm thinkin' maybe we should make them find out. It'll work better than any stinkin' 'Penalty Box' or 'Flame Room'...castor oil comes right to mind (and is driving the bile right up my esophagus, just thinking about it).

My problem with this commercial is that for some reason, the kids think medicine is supposed to taste good. There was a reason medicine tasted like ass when we were kids- they didn't want us sipping at it because it "tastes good". In fact, with stuff like Castor Oil as previously brought up, I'll bet the taste stopped a lot of kids from faking illness so they could stay home from school.

Of course staying home from school back then was a bummer. Mom was home, and you only had like 5 channels on the TV, three of them covering soaps, one was PBS with all that educational crap you didn't want to watch and the other usually had old movies on that were full of people kissing and conversations and stuff. Nowadays, staying home means both parents gone [if you even have both parents], video games, internet porn and maybe access to the liquor cabinet. Oh yeah, and yummy tasting cough medicine.

Sorry about the tangent.

I remember having to take some white medicine that tasted like it had sand in it...that was pretty nasty.

And I can't stand that bubble-gum flavored cr**.

(I never thought grape flavored medicine tasted "awesome!" ....but it was good enough that my parents didn't have to force me to drink it LOL )

Don't forget when you're home alone on the weekends. Back in the day, it was a bummer because for kids that didn't have cable or satellite and no Nintendo Entertainment System, you wished you're parents would come sooner because it was boring. Now-a-days, weekends without parents would rock. And yes, I didn't have cable till I was older and didn't get my NES also till I was older.

Yep, I've seen this one. It's not so much the fact that the medicine might taste good, but the fact that the director obviously still thinks we're in the 90s with that exaggerated AWESOME. I never wanted to take medicine as a kid because it all tasted horrible, but then again my parents never kept any "kids only" medicine. I still don't take cough syrup ever, if I have a problem it gets taken care of in good ol' taste free pill form.

I understand Grape Robitussin over Jolly Ranchers (Tuss on the Rocks) is popular in the "da clubs".

I guess when I was really little, around 1 and a half or so, I LOVED this cough syrup we had. This being 1973 I am doubting it was flavored with anything other than "gross" but for some reason I was in love with it.
I guess I got in to the bottle and drank the entire thing.
My mom found me zonked out. In her typical Scottish worried, yet reserved manner, she called  the Dr. and he said, "well, the little guy will just sleep a lot longer but if he is breathing ok and looks ok he should be fine"

My brother did the same thing.

We are a smidge older than you - so say five years prior - he chugged a bottle of cherry cough syrup.  It was prescription stuff that we always had in the closet.  It had codeine in it.  As I recall, that stuff was goooooooood.

My mom was told to keep him awake.   He survived.
Let's try not to be boring, mkay?

I don't know if any of you "youngsters" remember a remedy named appropriatley "666"?
It was something like castaroil and it was mostly found in an ad from the back of one my mom's magazines! To say it was nasty would be like saying tuppertine tastes like vanilla ice cream.. it was considered a cure all for what ever ails you. When my mom forced me to take this crap I thought it tasted like the inside of an ear! NOT THAT I HAVE TASTED THE INSIDE OF AN EAR MIND YOU...that's just what came to mind when I took it!  I dont' recall 666 curing me of anything...except after that if I felt sick I kept it to myself! I did love the taste of Nyquil though...I guess because it has/had alcohol!

Well, I have tasted the insides of ears.  Unfortunately (or fortunately), I never tasted 666, so I can't compare the two.

Otherwise, "666" seems a bad name for a medicine.
