There's a K Mart Christmas commercial that's been playing for like a week now. It's got an annoying kid with 70's hair and missing teeth and what teeth he does have are so nasty and snaggly it's distracting. He's wearing some ugly Christmas sweater (if I remember right) and not only does he have one of those annoying high-pitched commercial kid voices, the pitch of his voice changes every 3 words like it's a bunch of mixed-up audio mashed together and then he bellyaches about getting a 3DS, making a point to LOUDLY point it out on a computer monitor, and then yelling something about getting more Christmas. This commercial f**king SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm surprised it hasn't already made it on here.

Oh, Lord. Like the kid in that USAA commercial, I can barely understand half of what this kid says. Not only does he not enunciate, he also kind of hiccups his words out. Maybe this is why they show the products on a computer monitor as he says them. Otherwise, we might not know what the hell he's blithering about.

The kid's teeth aren't that bad, but the rest of the ad is horrible for other reasons, the aforementioned high-pitched, modulating & nearly impossible to understand voice being one of them.
To me, the worst thing about the ad is the messagae behind it & the portrayal of kids as (though I suppose nowadays it's accurate, thanks in part to ads like this one) greedy, expensive-gadget-demanding little jerks. And that obnoxious tag line at the end... "GET IN GET MORE CHRISTMAS.", just really emphasizes everything people have come to hate about what Christmas has turned into. Sadly, this will be far from the worst example of celebrating greed that we'll see on TV before it's all over with. |

^ As a matter of fact, when I did a search on this commercial, the first results that came up were articles about how KMart put out the first Christmas commercial this year---in September, 106 days before Christmas.

Not surprising. KMart is nearly finished as a retail giant in this country, so they're desperate for any advantage they can get. They've been purchased by Sears, closed stores left & right & probably won't even be around anymore by the end of the decade. Walmart has really just cleaned their proverbial clock. |

Maybe if they'd put some money into their stores, done some renovations...
The one near me is just depressing. I've mentioned here before that it looks like something outta the Soviet Union, 1980.

Yeah, the one I used to shop at quite a bit in the 80's & 90's wasn't a bad looking store at all, it was just a bit on the small side & hence, was one of the first to close several years ago.
There was another, somewhat larger one that I began shopping at occasionally, that looked like what you describe. It finally closed down about a year ago. We've got one left around here that I know of that's a pretty nice store, but being in toney Winter Park, one would expect it to be nicer than the average KMart. |

Another thing about the Kmart near me: It's in an area of car repair shops and rundown old strip malls, where half the storefronts are empty. Not dangerous, just depressing. Not inviting at all.
When I first moved here, I used to go to that Kmart. Then a WalMart went up. It was bigger, closer and, though not what I'd call nice, it was at least clean and in a nice area.

KMart just cannot compete with Walmart.
Walmart is so huge, it can command lower prices from suppliers that smaller chains just can't match. Walmart is so big that if they want to, they can occasionally sell certain items at a loss just to draw customers away from the competition & into their stores. |

They also sell the tomato sauce (Cento) I like. That alone brings me to Walmart. And then, as long as I'm there...

They also sell this stuff in the Hispanic food section...
42¢ per 7 oz. bag. Great in soups or with tomato sauce. Give it a try. |

Yeah, I've gotten those---even cheaper---at the discount supermarket I go to. 33 cents. They also come in other styles---even spaghetti. Same thing---7oz packages.
I think I've even seen them at the Dollar Tree, in packs of 4. Different brand, though.

^^^I think the advertisers purposely insult our senses so we will never forget where we saw the kid (might accidently cause us to shop for a product or at a store)

I'm not a violent person, but that kid needs a boot to the skull.
I knew it wouldn't be long before this commercial was brought up! I hate the stupid look on his face, the sing-song way he speaks, the snotty little attitude, his irritating hair, and the loser outfit. |

I haven't seen this ad running in my market, probably because of the near non-existent presence of stores here.
When I checked out the link to a video and saw the still frame of the stupid-faced boy I thought "DEAR GAWD THIS KID SUCKS!!!!" and prepared to be annoyed. I was not let down! This HAS to be the commercial directors kid or something. There's no way that this kid beat other professional child actors at an audition. Actually, he looks like he could have beaten up the other kids at the audition and his white trash parents bullied the casting directors. |

I was going to start a thread about it on Tuesday but couldn't find a link for it anywhere so that I could share this
For some ungodly reason, this spoiled rotten crotchfruit, along with all the other smarmy little fcuktrophies that commercials are overrun with these days, are perceived by the nimrods in advertising/marketing as being precocious and appealing. At Thanksgiving, we will be joined by my sister and her family; my BIL, who is a VIP for a rather large Advertising Agency in the US, will be there, and I plan on asking him about this disturbing trend, along with any questions y'all might have.
