Jillian Barberie and Nutrisystem

Mary Ann is 70 and Ginger is 75.

Nutrisystem has been around for a LONG time. I was f**king surprised to see an ad for them in a part of Hartford Courant newspaper that I own dated from 1990 .

I just plain hate her...been hating her for a long time on that so-called news show...she's still on in the morning I think....and oh wait..WHEN WAS SHE EVER FAT...I hate broads like her that where never fat to begin with, never had to struggle with a weight problem...oh I gained a little weight during pregnancy oh I am so fat....oh I dropped 10 lbs I am SO SLIM AGAIN....that's right B cause you were never ever fat nor do you know what fat is...whew had to get that out! 

This is the WORST nutrisystem commercial to date. PROS: she does have the body now, thanks to trainer. Cons: Looks like a aged stripper. Look I can throw a football (wow, great accomplishment), if you can't throw a football or catch one from that distance, you either have no arms or have a fake eyelash in your eye. that is, if it could crawl through all the eyeliner. lololol

She used to do some dumb dating reality show too. I forget the name of it.

When that nutrisystem ad comes on, I lunge for the remote, no matter where it is.  I CANNOT STAND that commercial.  Jillian was NEVER FAT - and I can't stand how she has pimped herself out for a little money, claiming that she was - she was PREGNANT!!!  Are there anyn idiots out there that can watch that commercial, and see Jillian Barberie with her little teeny arms sticking out of that TENT dress, and her collarbone, clearly visible, and think that she was ever fat???

This reminds me of a trend in advertising that drives me crazy.  I shop in what they politely call "Women's sizes."  What it means is, plus-sized.  Although I'm on the lower end of that spectrum, I am still overweight.

What bothers me is that the ads that come from these speciality stores use people who are NOT plus-sized, wearing clothing that supposedly is plus-sized.  I want to see models who look like me wearing those clothes.  It is not going to sit the same way on a thin person as it will on an overweight person.  I was at a fashion show at Lord & Taylor in New York some years back, and they did the same thing.  They took a plus-size line and put it on women who had no "plus."  I want to see it on someone who is plus-sized, to see how it will lay on me.  True, everyone is different, and women have many different places where the "plus" sits. But most of us have large chests, and just about ALL of us have a belly.  Is it too much to ask for realistic models?

It's the same everywhere, even on America's Next Top Model. They put "plus sized" girls on every season and they go pretty fast. It took them 10 seasons to let one win, and she isn't even that fat! She's just really tall and has some meat on her bones.

So glad you love the commercial, rdog.  But to kill the thread?  That's why we're here, to complain about commercials we hate.  If you like it that much, go post about it "Commercial Talk" (which used to be "Commercials You Don't Hate.")
