I swear, it seems like once a week a new medication ad comes out for Diabetes.
2 freggin minutes long, "That's Life" is playing. Making it seem like Diabetes is just a part of life and aging. Yes, it's an epidemic, but not 100% of the population has it. F off drug companies. The name reminds me of the word Jaundice. |

^ I looked for that answer...but no luck. iSpot says it's Sinatra, but they're obviously wrong. Wikipedia lists other people who've done the song, and none of them seem to be it. |

Me too, I like the horns. That is not the Sinatra song.

It's been redone so many times, who knows who it can be. Heck it could be a dinky cover band in Bumblea$$, USA. Siri can't name the remake, knows the Sinatra version.

"That's Life" does not refer in this commercial to diabetes in itself, the way I understand it. It refers to the temptations diabetics face to eat foods they love that are not good for them. For many diabetics (I would imagine Type 1 as well as Type 2) that IS life. As a ploy to connect with diabetics, it works in that respect.
That said, I do find this commercial irritating, chiefly because it's become so overplayed (and it's so long to begin with). However it's far from the worst thing on the air, even among pharmaceutical commercials. |

Re: "The [drug] name reminds me of the word Jaundice." I didn't realize until quite recently that the FDA regulates drug names! There is a concern at FDA that doctors (or their patients) will confuse similar sounding drug names that are intended to treat very different medical conditions. That said, I'm still not sure why we end up with drug names that remind us of horses. (i.e., Eilquis) ....maybe if the drug were intended to treat hoarseness? Or, long-face disease? Here's a list of names coming to your TV soon: http://www.centerwatch.com/drug-information/fda-approved-drugs/ |

Haven't seen it yet (thankfully!) However, if TLC runs it during "My Big Fat Fabulous Life", I'll put up with it. |

I'm glad I'm not diabetic. I don't know if I could see that spaghetti and not dig in. I used to eat 3/4 lb of the stuff per sitting back in my 20s and 30s. |

I thought you told me you never check your blood sugar level. If that's true, how would you know you're not diabetic? Just wondering. |

I don't think I've ever said that, as I've had it checked a few times over the years. My bro has the blood-testing stuff. It's always been OK. Also, I've looked at the symptoms for diabetes and early diabetes (frequent urination, difficulty losing weight, excessive thirst, darkened areas of the skin, blurred vision and others), and I've had none of them. Just in case, though, I've cut down a lot on my carb intake. But that's also to keep my weight down. |

At first I liked the commercial due to the song. But have lost my interest when they went to the usual spiel. They're all the same!

One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off
