Almost as annoying as some commercials, is the way talk show hosts, and others, rush to allow an ad to air.  Often, a host will tell a caller to 'hurry up,' or 'quickly make your point.'  It usually turns out an ad follows within seconds.

A related problem is the editing or cutting of some program material to fit in mpre ads.  WABC-am radio in NYC is famous for this.  The ends of phone numbers cut off or a speaker is cut in mid-sentence to allow for an (extra) ad to run.  They really cram them in.  I know sponsors  pay for shows, but it's over the top there.

Perhaps OT, but a similar offender is the national "Coast to Coast AM" radio program.  Ads and fully played bumper music often takes up around 10 minutes (!) every bottom of the hour.

Personally, I've never liked talk radio. It is the worst form of radio to me. Sports radio is not so bad (even sports talk), but news talk radio is the worst.

I don't mind that so much.  It goes with the territory.  Often, if the host thinks a caller might have a good point, he tells him to stay on hold till after the commercials.

I remember when music radio used to sometimes have the music stars of the day do radio spots for products, and even for the station itself.

This one's by the Four Seasons for the "Cousin Brucie Show"on WABC radio in the 60s
