internet ads in general

   I loathe, detest, despise, abhor, all advertising on the internet.  Can we not please have just one medium of mass communication that isn't instantly perceived as just another venue for marketing?window.onbeforeunload = function() {}
Newspapers were developed, and instantly filled with advertising.  Magazines came along, and more advertising.  Radio is introduced, and immediately filled with commercials.  Television in most peoples' homes, and most stations have around half their air time devoted to commercials.

The internet appears;  and the promise of the "information superhighway" becomes the reality of the marketing dirt road.

I've long been astounded that we can make a non-emergency phone call without having to first listen to a 30 second promo for something.

Especially loathsome are those sites where, as soon as the main page loads, you get a full screen pop-up whining "OMG!  You're using an ad blocker!  You're stealing the food from my childrens' mouths!".  I send them a pleasant email:  "When watching TV at night do you studiously watch every commercial?  Or do you channel surf?  The only difference here is that you can tell I have an ad blocker but the TV station can't tell you're changing channels".

	Advertising is everywhere. I just read about how, when Red Bull first came out, empty cans were being placed visibly in garbage cans to give the impression the drink was already popular.
