It's a commercial, so it almost automatically sucks, and it's annoying because I don't know what it's supposed to mean. Four guys who apparently represent different phone companies (?) go up to a house, it's the house of a wizard. The wizard has a whole family who are also wizards. Inside the house is a guy who the other guys know, and who I guess represents another phone company. They are mad at him because he won't leave the wizard's house. Then a dog comes and chases them away.

I don't get it.

The blonde douche that the wizard invited over for dinner- the representative for Alltell.
All the other nerd guys from the other phone companies are mad because the Alltell guy makes him look bad.
The wizard is supposed to be the other phone companies' guy, cuz they're nerds, yanno, but even he can't resist Alltell's deals.
And then a dog chases them off the premises.

I'm still having a hard time understanding. Why do the other phone companies go to a wizard, and why does the blond guy make the wizard look bad, and what exactly is happening with the wizard and the blond guy and why does it make the other guys angry... oh, screw it.

OKAY.
The nerds bought a van that had a wizard painted on it. They found out that by yelling "WIZAAARD!!" They could summon an actual wizard.
So they went to show Chad, who is the Alltell representative.
They are rivals with Alltell, so they thought they now had the ultimate means of pwnage against him.
But once the wizard saw Chad's awesome Alltell deals, he betrayed the nerds by using Alltell's phone service.
So the nerds got angry.
They went to the wizard's house to sort things out, I presume.
But they found that the wizard had invited Chad over for dinner, since the two are now buddies.
The nerds hate Chad and Alltell.
Therefore, by association, this is the ultimate kick in the crotch to have the wizard befriend Chad.

They're going the way of Geico cavemen commercials.  The first one was actually funny because the guy said "So easy a caveman could do it".  Then we find out one of his camera men is a caveman (which doesn't make complete since to me, since cavemen are supposed to live in caves), and he storms off offended.  Ever since then, they only make commercials referencing the cavemen's war with Geico, but most of the time don't show the slogan anymore, thus making the entire commercial seem like nonsense  (and it is) to anyone who just happened to miss the previous commercials.  In that way, the Alltell commercials are pulling the same thing.  That's one problem I have with many commercials; if your cute commercial has nothing to do with your product, or if it isn't clear how that particular commercial connects with the product, I find it annoying.  No problem with being cute to sell your stuff, but make us understand why it being cute is relevant to your product.  Otherwise, we are led to believe you spent all your money coming up with a cute advertisement, and nothing on making a good product; otherwise, you'd have mentioned why it is a good product.    The difference, though, is that the Wizard commercials tell you something great about the product, so they at least do that part right, while the rest of the commercial is unnecessary because it is just a little skit.

Just a thought...

I'm surprised that someone has never seen one of the other Alltel ads. I can't seem to watch a single hour of TV without seeing one. I'm not making fun or complaining; I'm jealous.

But you see, the original one in which the wizard showed up for the first time comes on rarely now, so these that are showing now may seem completely random to someone who had missed the couple months that the first commercial was on for.

I guess one company is happy they are not part of those stupid AllTel 'Wizard' ads...

Vonage.

Those folks at Vonage are ROTFLTAO seeing their competition (AT&T,Cingular,Verizon,T-Mobile) getting embarrassed by 'Chad' and AllTel.

Alltel just is a minor league phone company playing with the big guys, and they don't know that...

AT&T is a proud sponsor of the U.S. Olympic Team.
Cingular (which is now AT&T) was an NCAA Corporate Champion.
Sprint is the official telecommunications sponsor of the NFL and NASCAR.
And T-Mobile is the official telecommunications sponsor of the NBA.

I think Alltel (thanks to their commercials) should replace the guys representing Alltel's rivals with Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Randy Orton and Pac-Man Jones. Maybe 'Chad the Alltel Guy' and the 'Wizard' should retire from advertising after that happens...Clap
This November,I'm voting for Phoenix Suns forward Pat Burke for president,West Virginia center Jamie Smalligan for vice president and Greg Fitzsimmons for leader of the free world!

Before I read the context of this post & going by its title, I thought it was going to be rant about Wizard air freshener.  I have yet to see this commercial -- I couldn't imagine anything more ridiculous than one about a bunch of wizards!  It sounds like either someone's bad dream or the product of someone else's acid trip.Wacko

Randy Orton is one of the baddes of the bad guys in pro wrestling. He along with Bonds and Clemens would show the Alltel wizard a few things about competition...

LOL OH GOD!!! Don't get the WWE involved with the cell phone companies!!! Damn, they are annoying enough!!! I could just see Vicki Guerreo negotiating cell phone contracts. Drop a call and get banished from the plan FOREVER!!!! Or if you try to use your rollover minutes, you get triple teamed by Edge, Hawkins, and Ryder!! If you call to complain about unfair service, you'll have to face  Big Show and The Great Khali in a handicap match!!  LOL My kids make me watch this sh*t!! It's all fake, but it's funny sometimes. It's really funny watching my kids get so worked up over the crap THEY think is real!! ROFLMAO!!! It's PRICELESS!!!

Kat, your explaination of it begin to sound like the back-of-the-DVD case description for "The Cronies of Yawn-ia". LOL You did a great job though of explaining the plot there Kee-Kat!! LOL

AW DAMN!!!! Wild Shot the friggin TV again!!!
