I know it seems to happen all the time when I'm at Wal-mart (and at other stores), "May I help you" "can I help you?" "Do you need any help?" "May I help you" "can I help you?" "Do you need any help?""May I help you" "can I help you?" "Do you need any help?" "May I help you" "can I help you?" "Do you need any help?" "May I help you" "can I help you?" "Do you need any help?" I think these employees have some sort of radar. They're trained to be able to sense whether a customer really needs help or not. They have learned to read body language & expressions, so whenever someone projects that certain look or body language of a browser, the store employees appear on the scene, pretending to be helpful because they know they won't have to do anything. Yet, when a customer projects the look or body language of someone actually needing help, all the employees go into hiding.

It all goes back to the days of buying hot dogs from a deli. They were sold individually and a pound was ten hot dogs. The buns you got from the bakery and were baked in trays of four. Or.... It's a giant conspiracy by the hot dog people and the bun people to make you have to buy eight packs of hot dogs and ten packs of buns to get an even number. I dunno. Whatever explanation you like better, believe that one. |

Why do people point at their wrist for the time of day but not at their crotch when they have to pee?
Do vegetarians eat animal crackers?

When gas cost 50cents to a dollar a gallon, they'd have 2 guys washing your windshield, checking your oil. Gave you green stamps.
Gas now cost $4 gallon and you pump your own and do your own windshield if they actually have them.

Whenever one of those sales people swoops down to ask if I need help, I say "Yeah!! What else was I supposed to get? I can't remember."

I hate when salespeople SWOOP on you when you enter a store where you intend to spend big bucks. A few years ago, we were looking for a new couch. Holy Christ on a console - as soon as you crossed the threshold they'd come swarming. Can I LOOK first?
