It's the same kind of overacting you see in those Extra gum commercials where you got that Barrack Obama looking jackass dancing around chomping on his gum like a cow chewing on a cud.
It's like the director of the commercial thinks we the viewers are so god damn stupid we can't tell that the guy's chewing gum or someone is using a keyboard unless they ham it up.

Oh yes. The new one with the woman about to take a sip of water and then that little girl CRUNCHES her pickle and scares the woman. I was a bit startled by the noise myself. That was the loudest of all of these ads I've ever heard. And where are they supposed to be? In a restaurant? So they're saying Vlasic is the restaurant "pickle of choice"? Doubt it! I usually get one of those harsh, dyed, Mount Olive crappy pickles.

Weird question here, but has this "conditioning" (because we've been consciously and unconsciously exposed to this in commercials for YEARS) made anyone paranoid about their own crunching?
I munch on doritos in my office all the time, and my boss sits across the office from me, and I'm always thinking "am I irritating the hell out of him right now?" (Okay, it doesn't make me try to crunch quieter, but it is on my mind...) |

Yes!! I'm always afraid I'll bother somebody if I eat any type of chips - definitely the kettle cooked potato chips - I think those ARE loud!

Not sure about the crunching but I assure you that your breath is going to be dreadfully offensive after eating those things unless you brush and use Scope or something afterwards. I can smell Dorito Breath about 100 miles away. I forbid Dorito consumption in my home.

Oh, no worries there at all. I'm a stickler for breath (particularly after dating a man with rotting-dragon-breath for six months last year.) No, I'll never eat the doritos if I don't have a full supply of my main addiction--wintergreen lifesavers--nearby and my big jug of water that I drink down all day. And I eat fruit at my desk too. Mainly fruit. We had a big event a couple weeks back and had a huge bag of leftover doritos, so I was eating them a lot until a few days ago, when I finally finished the bag. |
