Without going into too much history, we have these 2 patients who are mother and daughter.  They come here frequently for their tests and tend to linger to flap their gums about other office's gossip.  They LOVE to bitch about everything.  We as a rule are always kind and tend to overlook their neediness.  Last week they came in (they always travel together) with a couple of bugs up their collective asses and went straight to the boss lady.  I get a call from my friend out front who tells me that they are bitching about me.  Apparently I was very mean to them both the week before.  I told one of them that she looked fat and asked her if she is shoveling her food down.  Naturally, I laughed at this as it was a case of mistaken identity. So I stroll out there to scope out the atmosphere, I see them in front of the doorway to the desk.  As I pass, they all clam up.  I walked over to my friend and asked her whassup.  She said that she rose to defend me and was abruptly shut down.  I figured that maybe one of them has dementia and is feeding the other a bs line.

I turn to go back to my cave and as I pass the hens, I stopped to say hello to the mother who was looking off into space and was clearly not in the conversation.  She glared at me, so I nicely said to her that it was nice to see them and if either of them was here to be seen by me.  To which she replied, NO, Why would you think that?!?  I smiled and said, well, you ARE here and it's either me or MRI you are here to see.  She yells, well I'm NOT here for you and can't you see that we are in the middle of a discussion?  Who are you to come here and interrupt me?  I looked at her and just said, oookayy...whatever, gotta go now.  Unfortunately the boss lady wasn't done before I left for the day, so I could not get any answers.  Meh, it wasn't me, so no worries.  The next day boss lady comes by and doesn't say anything.  I called her back and asked wtf was that all about yesterday.  She basically, let the two of them accuse me of things and begged them not to go elsewhere for their testing.  umm, no offense.

She just wanted to appease them and not get into pointing fingers.  I was advised to just lay low when they are around.  Today they were to return, when reminded, I said no, she comes to my house and I have to hide like a bad person?  No F'n way.  I have been drifting in and out of the room all this time.  I will not hide like that.  I'll probably get my hand slapped tomorrow for this, but I mean come on, we aren't going to change our financial outlook by keeping 2 nut-bags on the books.  I am offeded that it was handled this way.

Some folk just need to go to the light.  Perhaps it should be my job to show them the way.

I'd be pissed too.  My advice is to put the situation in the garbage where it belongs, and just act like yourself.  Hell with 'em.

I'd be able to show em all at once.

Things are really tense these days with layoffs, now these females are causing me grief.

It never ceases to amaze me how in a job setting just because something was said then everyone must rush to appease the sayor.  I have also been accused falsely of quite a few such things over the years.  What enrages me the most is I have proved my innocence many times and I seldom if ever get an apology.  I usually hear something like "Well, the next time this happens..."  or "Well, try to be nicer next time" (when I was not at all mean the first time).  Some people just like to create drama for lack of a better life.

I had a boss who didn't like, or was threatened by, my honest, but blunt observations.  She thought I was a bit cynical......so I started letting her fall on her face.  An employee who liked to call people the Big "N" was almost her downfall.  I asked my boss if she had checked this employee's personnel file before she transferred into the department.  She hadn't, of course.  Had she checked, she would have found that this particular employee didn't have very good working relationships with blacks.

My boss was upset and hollered "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME????"  I said because I'm cynical.Evil%20Smile

Surely you must have some connections at that place to get them scheduled for some deep colonoscopy probing? Since they are apparently hypochondriacs, they'll be happy; Your boss will be happy that they're getting extra tests; And you'll be happy because they'll be getting it up the ass.  A win-win-win for everybody!

You have a wife and kids to support, Shadow. All you can do is suck it up.Unhappy

I once had a co-worker that tried to do me in. Two days into my vacation, I get a phone call
from my Foreman. He told me when I got back from vacation he was going to whoop my arz
for talking smack about him behind his back.
It took all but 10 seconds to figure out my co-worker taked chit while I was away. It was never really the same after that so I moved on.Approve

Ahh Tim the only flaw is I would have to be eye to eye with their asses.
I suppose I could get me some of those full length gloves (like in animal breeding) and route around in there to find their brains.  Tiz is so right.  If the economy wasn't threatening to bite my ass, I'd would make it my life's work to get my revenge on these trouble makers.

A coworker suggested that I search the sharps box for a decent dirty needle.

Hey Hilly, guess what I heard.  This friend of a friend works in a nursing home.
A patient dies in the night of bacterial meningitis, the shift supervisor decides NOT to tell the other residents or the their families.  I'm trying to talk her into contacting the DoH.
Nice ehh?

Tiz is so correct.

I'd heard the same for many years, but didn't understand it until I first 'retired', in 2001; enough was enough - I wanted and knew I could consult. The money was GREAT as long as I WORKED...alas, even good consultants get 'bench time' when the money STOPS. And then...well, set up your own medical insurance (which is EXPENSIVE) and plan on basically maintaining 'multiple residences'...that was the 'light side'...ahhhhhhh...screw the 'inside politics', the bad corporate practices; ignore the idiots (nothing hurts them worse and bothers them more) in the end - until SOMETHING BETTER COMES ALONG...

Shadow, you probably will want to tell your friend to get a copy of that deceased person's death certificate to give the DoH.  It should list the cause of death, then there can be no cover-up.  Good luck!

I'm working on the girl who told me.
I do not know the girl who works in the home.
I guess we could find out the name of the home and leave a tip with the DoH.
