I hate every show on there except Phineas and Ferb. It seems to be somewhat creative. All the rest of the shows are the same: really crappy. They only have 4 shows now anyway: Zack and Cody on deck, Wizards of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb and Hannah Montana. Everything else is repeats. I hate Hannah Montana because it's annoying and unrealistic. Someone would have figured out that she's really Hannah Montana and not just Miley Cyrus by now. Wizards of Waverly Place is bad because it has bad special effects. But I do like the fact that on Wizards of Waverly Place, they had a quincanera for one of them. At least they try to be diverse.

They try to be diverse, but they f**k up every culture.
Closing logos! Now that's something I can watch on TV.

The only semi-good thing is Dinsey shows old cartoons at night.   They used to have The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh(I loved that one as a kid), but it's not on anymore.     They have others on though.    They also have shows from the old Saturday mornings on ABC like Recess, from the days before Disney stuck their dirty mitts into ABC's Saturday morning lineup.    That, along with this E/I s**t has ruined Saturday morning TV.

I remember Disney from the 60's with the Mouseketeer club and such...it was cool.  It was role models for children.  Now Hanna Montana and the Jonas brothers have taken their place....so much materialism and snootiness...and these kids are gonna run the country when we are old farts....oi vey.

I remember I could not wait for 'The Wonderful World of Disney' on Sunday night 7pm, it came right after Bonanza, which I liked very much as well back then.  Too bad Disney stopped this, and you folks are right, it will never be the same.  Too much commercialism, materialism, and nowism...gone are old ethics and challenges for kids, now it's clothes and silliness and how to get out of silly incidents.  Really lame, what are they actually teaching our youth...NOTHING!  Shame on Disney they should have been the last bastion for upholding ethics for kidsake!

Nickolodeon is the same way now.   No more Doug, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Rocket Power and so on that was on when I was a kid.

Nick might as well be DISNEY2 or Disney could be NICK2.   Both show stupid shows about kids who are celebrities, actors, performing artists, want to be actors/musicians/performing artists or are just average spoiled spawn of rich motherfuckers who have the ATTITUDE of actors/musicians/performing artists.

And "Bonanza"?  Really?  LOL  (sigh) Tongue

I remember that... Disney sure has changed since then...

But wait, theres more...I just noticed tonight, DirecTV has added a third Disney channel called Disney XD HD. The description in the guide is "Disney XD  is NEXT on TV. If you're a skater, a gamer, or a multifaceted player, Disney XD is for YOU!!!"

Tongiht's listings appear similar to other Disney channel dreck...Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Even Stevens, etc.

Walt must be spinning in his grave.

Honestly, in my opinion, Disney Channel was MUCH better back in the early 1990s when I was a little one, they used to play the Disney Cartoons, while at the same time, offer that Live action crap they have now (a good example is Alice in Wonderland.) I also seem to remember they had both a live action and cartoon version of Winnie the Pooh. They really should bring back some of that good ol' stuff. The current gen of "kids" really need to learn what good TV is/was.

Quote Nickolodeon is the same way now.   No more Doug, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Rocket Power and so on that was on when I was a kid.

I used to watch Nick at the same time. They were WAY better at that time. In my opinion, the downfall of Nick came around the time of Hey Arnold (and boy, that was a confusing show for me, all the cars and fashions are pretty much early 1960s, but they have CD Players and PCs!) The original Doug (before Disney made it not as good) and Rugrats (before they added on Dil, and got worse with Kimmi) was really good, as was Ren n' Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, The Angry Beavers, the game shows (who remember Legends of the Hidden Temple and Guts!), and even the live action shows were not too bad.

As for Hanna Montana, the first thing that came to my mind when I first heard her name was "Is she related to this guy (see photo below)?"

Disney died at the same time Walt Disney did. Nickelodeon did about the same time. I remember Disney when they had marathons of Goofy, or Mickey cartoons from 15 years earlier and colorized. They would even show "steamboat willie" in their regular rotation. Donald Duck trying to sleep with the incurable drippy faucet, and his fits of rage. Goofy getting beaten into submission from a mail-order weight-training kit complete with the 45 LP. "Mr Wheeler" on the freeway having road-rage. THAT was Disney, and that Disney has died long ago.

If I had kids, I'd do my best to keep my kids from ever seeing what they show now. I wouldn't want to give my kids a mental-deficiency as a result of watching the "New-Disney" programming. If I had a daughter, they would never see "Hannah Montana" if my life depended on it. Miley Cyrus Disney Tool can suck my throbbing manhood and get out, for all I care, just keep her away from my kids if and when I have any. She's not selling my daughter on her "stupid-little whore playset".

I prefer my children live in the real world, not this bastardization of real life as I see on that channel all the time now. Even as those cartoons were deemed "too violent" for kids, I would take responsibility as a parent and not rely on the TV as a babysitter..
Immune to all forms of marketing since 1976!

Thing is, it is rather hard to keep kids away from this crap. If they don't see it at home, they'll likely see it through a friend one way or another. Not to mention, if you walk into a store, sometimes it feels like an Army of Hanna Montana Cardboard cutouts invaded overnight in certain areas. Still, introduce them to some of the old school retro stuff, and I think they'll turn out fine.

What do you mean? Walt Disney died in 1966... Neither Nickelodeon nor the Disney Channel existed at these times...

If you mean that the quality of the cartoons went downhill after Disney died, then I understand at least that part. You lost me on the Nick reference, though...

I am fed up with the Hannah Montana crap, and I've been thinking about something:

I really did like Miley's infamous Vanity Fair photo... yes, it was sensual, but it was beautiful and in good taste.

On the other hand, she portrays a pop star who wears too much makeup, a blonde wig, and tight, somewhat revealing clothing.

She was blasted for the Vanity Fair pic, yet celebrated for this generic, sexed-up popstar image.  What is wrong with this picture?

I'd suggest you'd watch the South Park episode about the Jonas Brothers for that one. Wink

That was the best freaking part of Nickelodeon. If you were a kid and competing on one of the shows, you could: trash a house ("Finders Keepers") play video games without wasting quarters (Nick Arcade) and get messy as hell (Double Dare)..and your parents would be cheering you on instead of yelling at you. LOL

And even if the kids didn't win the grand prize (which was a trip somewhere...at least on Double Dare), they still got awesome prizes.

I grew up in the 80's. They had Dumbo's Circus. Original Disney cartoons (which I loved). They have original Disney cartoons on DVD and I am thinking about picking up some, soon.

I'm also guessing that The Disney Channel did NOTHING for Donald Duck's 75th Birthday!

If it was the older format, they would be showing everything Donald Duck.

As in the words of the AVGN...they f**ked everything up, it's like they gave us a piece of elephant sh*t and sent it into the television!
Thank God for kids who love Obscure Things.

Wow, I had no idea that Donald Duck even turned 75 years old! I'm sure if the monorail incident had not happened earlier that morning, maybe our local ABC affiliate would've made a mention, as well as a few other news channels. But as usual, Disney Channel would be playing cheezy teen dramas, completely oblivious that it was those cartoons that put Disney up there.

Oh, and for the AVGN quote, you get a Star. Clap

Hrmn.  It's gone now.  Either somebody removed it or my internets are being obnoxious.  Meh.

EDIT:  Ok.  The user who posted it is in the actual member list as a "Spammer to be deleted".  That at least tells me that it wasn't just something appearing on my end.

I'll throw what little I can on the subject in just to keep this on topic.  I think we're all doomed.  Disney garbage isn't unique among the slew of filth that leaks out of popular teen culture these days and it's making little kids think that they all have to act like teenagers.  Back in my day little kids would play softball for fun and go build tree forts.  Not sit around trying to find a fancy outfits or beat each other up over girls.  Filthy Disney.  What happened to wholesome television?  Stuff these days has to be "edgy" and pops a squat over the idea of a cartoon that is funny for the sake of funny.  I can't stand these teen drama garbage programs.  I avoid any Disney channel like the plague.

I like Phineas & Ferb too.  I'm glad I let myself get past the fact that Phineas talks just like the overexuberant channel narrator they have and Candace's constant yelling can be annoying.  The sub-plots of Perry the Platypus (Agent P) and Dr. Heinz Doofensmirtz, are really the funniest thing on it.  Dr Doofensmirtz's long list of Evil inventions which are all (but one) named with "inator" in the end, just keeps me laughing.
