For some odd reason I wanna figure out WTF this song is so I can hear the entire thing in all of its sh*tastic glory. Kinda reminds me of Kmart too. Outdated and downright depressing. I don't think Kmart and Sears are long for this world. Our local Kmart closed in 2014 and was replaced by Ocean State Job Lot that doesn't fit the entire space and West Hartford's long standing Sears closed in early 2017. That site in under redevelopment. Both are losing money FAST!
This is familiar to us in this state it happened with Caldor in 1999, Bradlees in 2001, Ames in 2002, and Service Merchandise also in 2002 I think. Nothing new here. |

It took some digging but I found it! The songs called "Dinn Das Daa" by George Kranz. It's a perfect song for a corporation going out of business! Sad but true!

Kmart's have been closing for what seems like decades now. How are they still a thing? Our old Kmart now houses Spirit Halloween during the fall.

There is a KMart in Niagara Falls that has been going out of business for at least ten years and on in the Blackrock-section of Buffalo that looks like a white-washed warehouse with armed guards.

First time I heard this song was well over 30 years ago in the movie "Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo" I admit I liked it back in the day, yes I had the soundtrack also.
But K-Shart destroyed it. Still boggles me how they are still in business, they are hanging on by a thin thread as more stores close - and Sears. |

Not part of ACROSS from the Westfarms Mall. In a plaza called Corbin's Corner. That Sears has been there since the 1960s it's now being partially torn down now. The only thing that had changed since the 1960s when it was still open was the interior and the sign on the storefront. |

Another 20 locations were named yesterday to close - and finally the one near me is on that list. Looks like they will close in Mid-November.
The "employees of these closed locations can relocate to near by Sears or other Kmart's" That's kind of a sad, almost comical statement from them. This will be the last KMart in the area to close, Sears...I think there may be one or two left scaled down versions in the immediate area..brink of closing also. NOW..my only damn fear what could take its place. Lot of Dollar Tree's seem to take it's space. Also a lower end grocery store chain called "Shop-Rite" also seem to be taking over the vacant KMarts. If so...wonderful (sarcasm) - I personally don't see this as an improvement to the area. Yet....still. the company is not "out of business." I can't figure it out. This is no question the slowest most painful death in retail history. I haven't seen any loud stupid "DIN DA DA" back to school commercials from them what so ever thank god..this could be sign that corporate has zero intension of spending $$ on ads for that. Whats the point. Save $ for Xmas / layaway on the um..25, 50 US locations left by Dec 1. Who knows. |

its weird..i went back to a Kmart about a year ago to buy a bike tire..not specifically at Kmart but becuz it was in the area,,and it was the SAME SUCKY kind of experience i had with Kmapart in the 70s when it was like the ONLY store that sold a bunch of stuff..that ended when Target came in and kicked their ass..but it was literally the same dirty, dispirited feeling that is now owned by the Walmart ® corp RIP KameApart-you won't be missed |

Our Kmart closed in December 2016. The location, right next to Interstate 82 and Nob Hill Blvd opened in 1971. Now sits vacant while a homeless shelter called Camp Hope sits next to it, near the wastewater treatment plant. WinCo Foods was rumored to take that property but instead will build in Union Gap. And so it sits vacant until someone steps up to the plate.

Mr C. I've got it!! The K-Mart death-spiral video could just be a spinning blue light. The light grows dimmer and starts spinning slower. Just before the light goes out, play the Pac Man game-over audio. |

Smaller, low height buildings like Kmarts, usually just get torn down by backhoe or wrecking ball.

Kmart's biggest problem is that they are their own worst enemy. The
whole chain is plagued by very poor management. One of the big things
Kmart has not realized is how important presentation and customer
service is.
First of all their stores are badly outdated. If you are able to find a Kmart and walk in, it feels like a time warp to 1992 or so. The last Kmart to open in our city did so in 1994. Last year it was also the last Kmart in town to close and it still felt like it was 1994. Also the merchandise many times is things that is either outdated or something that never was in style to begin with. On the other hand you walk in a Walmart or Target and it feels fresh and they have stuff you want. I know the Walmart I go to most often gets a remodeling every 6-7 years. Not only do things get rearranged but the store is painted inside and out and the flooring is also replaced. As a result it keeps things looking fresh. In fact the only way you are able to tell that it is an older Walmart is that part of it has a drop ceiling. Also Kmarts tend to be dirty and disheveled. Things are just put anywhere in any order. Also it is common for HVAC vents to be dirty. Of all the complaints Walmart gets, I have yet to hear someone say that a store feels outdated or that it was dirty. Another flaw about Kmart is their customer service or lack thereof. When someone pushes the need help button it is common to wait at least 5-10 minutes before someone comes. The worst story I have had though was this. I went there to buy a grill. I found one I wanted but it was on the top shelf so I was going to need help getting it. I pushed one of those service buttons and after a few minutes I found some employee walking and he said someone would be with me shortly. I did get my grill that day but not from Kmart. After waiting 30 minutes and making several trips to the service desk. I left and went to Walmart and bought a grill there. This incident I consider the point where I stopped caring about Kmart. It took over a year before I found myself in there again and to this day I seldom will go in one. With Sears it is even worse because for all practical purposes they should be okay. Very seldom can a company truly claim they have the best brand or one of the best brands. Not only could Sears say it once, they could say it three times. First of all they had the best tools in Craftsman. Not only were they the best tools but they were guaranteed forever. They had the best brand of car batteries in Diehard. I put a Diehard in a car and drove it for years and the battery outlasted the car. With appliances I would say that Kenmoore was a close second only to Maytag. Sears could have dropped everything else and only sold batteries, appliances, and tools and they would have been okay. Presently though Craftsman tools have been sold off and are nowhere near what they once were. I bought a Kenmoore Microwave a few years ago and it never really worked right to begin with and tore up within a couple of years after purchase. I doubt I will ever buy anything else from Kenmoore. I will say I do not know what Diehards are like nowadays so I am not going to comment on them. |

Our local K-Mart has been on death watch for years.
And in all that time, they still haven't figured out that a single cash register cannot possibly ring up enough sales to cover a 110,000 square foot store full of merchandise and employees. ... even if they made 900% profit on every item sold. I don't go there because it's a 30-minute proposition, at least, to get through the checkout line. "Line". Singular. 45 minutes when someone has to call for the inevitable "price check".

They're gonna close one in Garfield Heights...maybe that 'burb can demolish the old K-Mart and extend Transportation Boulevard so many can get through Rockside and Granger... And for all you Clevelanders out there...CityView Center was a bad investment because there was no outlet by this parking lot, it's built on a garbage dump, and it was built in 2006 when the housing bubble started to burst! And to think...I was gonna try to buy my grandpa's house, but since there was a shooting/standoff two doors down...Thank God I didn't!
