Quote "Tim Draper, a third-generation venture capitalist, says drones will soon be delivering pizzas.

The founder of the Menlo Park, Calif.-based venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson is investing in a startup called DroneDepoy, which is building software to safely operate and manage multiple drones, according to a recent article by Bloomberg News.

"Drones hold the promise of companies anticipating our every need and delivering without human involvement," he told the financial newswire. "Everything from pizza delivery to personal shopping can be handled by drones…"

I see it more as a novelty thing than something that will ever be routine.  Wouldn't be long before the first robbery occurs and somebody beats it to a pulp with a 2-by-4....  LOL

Kinda related...

I heard that some restaurants are trying to limit the customer-waiter interaction thing.  When you go to the restaurant, you use some sort of computer tablet provided by the restaurant, and order your meal that way.  I guess a human still has to deliver it to your table, though.  But maybe, now, with this drone thing, they can work on that, too.

Sounds really "Jetsons".

^You could beat the robbery thing by applying cameras or sensors to its sides, bottom, and back. Either detect specific movement such as running, etc. or simply have the camera's viewed by the person controlling it.

An automated reaction would require it jumping back into the air and taking pictures on all angles, so if it DOES get attacked/destroyed the images would already be sent back to the store and then sent to the police.
