CNN) -- The small fruit has the color of a cranberry, the shape of an almond and tastes like a flavorless gummy.

The "miracle fruit" makes acidic foods, such as lemons and grapefruits, sweet and candy-like.

But after chewing the fruit and rubbing the pulp against the tongue, the berry, known by a promising name -- "miracle fruit" or Synsepalum dulcificum -- releases a sweetening potency that alters the taste buds.

For about 15 to 30 minutes, everything sour is sweet.

Lemons lose their zing and taste like candy. Oranges become sickeningly sweet. Hot sauce that usually burns the tongue tastes like honey barbecue sauce that scorches as it trickles down the throat.

Through word of mouth, these miracle fruits have inspired "taste tripping" parties, where foodies and curious eaters pay $10 to $35 to try the berries, which are native to West Africa.

About five months ago, a Miami, Florida, hospital began studying whether the fruit's sweetening effects can restore the appetite of cancer patients whose chemotherapy treatments have left them with dulled taste buds.

"What happens in patients is the food tastes so metallic and bland, it becomes repulsive," said Dr. Mike Cusnir, a lead researcher on the project and oncologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center. "Most of the patients undergoing chemotherapy have weight loss. Then they cut further into their diet and then this furthers the weight loss. It causes malnutrition, decreased function of the body and electrolyte imbalance." Video Watch a flavor tripping demonstration and the interview with Cusnir. »

That also happens if you stop eating anything with added sugar (including anything with table sugar, or sugar as any kind of cooking ingredient). Grapefruit now tastes like those fruits gems to me. (Why don't we have a drooling with joy smiley?LOL)

Well, it has made some cheeses taste sweeter... and sour milk with a little bit of acid thrown in to induce coagulation is basically what cheese is!LOLBig%20smile

MissyDWolf had to have a tooth sawed out of her chops, today.
Being the real trooper she is, all is well, now, 'cept I'm babying her.
She's on her well-covered couch with all her pudding, her phones, and her prescription drugs - one of which was totally new to me.
That means I HAD to look it up...and what I found was friggin' amazin', I tell ya!
Guess I'll share what I found in Wikipedia (now I'm heading for the P.D.R. after this).
First, the Wikipedia link for 'Diflunisal': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diflunisal
Next, the actual 'Overdose' information (someone simply HAD to have edited it!):

Overdose

Deaths that have occurred from diflunisal usually involved mixed drugs and or extremely high speed masturbation.

Definitely dead. A corpse found in China. Think it was an accident, Pa?

Yea - I'm certain of it.

Looks like the results of an accident that happened in 'Nail Gun School' where the kid with Parkinson's was inadvertently placed in a back-row...

Great argument for not sitting in the Front-Row.

Wonder if this nifty DeWalt model was used?

While reading the news a moment ago, I decided to follow an odd link at the bottom of the page...this deserves a spot SOMEWHERE; I simply could not figure where (besides anywhere other than our home...).
I decided to place this ad within this thread...and I *do* worry about youngsters reading our posts, sometimes. I could see Mama and Little Cathy reading the board, together and stumbling across this post..."...loooookie, Mommy!"
Then again, maybe they read the news and follow links, also.
Anyway - about THIS product:
Would you  consider it (with apologies to MM00, since I know how much he dislikes the following word) 'Green'?
Maybe so...looks like *most* everyone's interests were taken into consideration (Confused).
So I'll leave it to YOU to watch the videos at the bottom of this page.

Sometimes it can be a real b*tch just trying to become a 'Dad'; it appears that it has always required 'an agreement'; otherwise there will be the proverbial "wasted nut" (there's been more than one person I've thought of as such)...
