Sounds good!  Remember to make it slant forward so you can sit under it in the rain.

Of course, the posts are in the cement patio, and the cement patio itself is another job itself.  Probably took longer to lay the patio than it did to build the cover.

It was probably part of the original construction.

I can reuse almost everything at a later date. When all is said and done, I'll have around $60 in it.

A friend of mine did the same thing.

Worked pretty good, I guess.

Used a tarp as a cover.

You can also use plumbing pipe, too.

Commercial awning companies used to use that stuff all the time.

A few things tell me maybe not.  The cross-beams are attached to two 2"x 6"es that are nailed into one another, and then attached to the house.  It's nice and strong, but it looks a little piece-meal to be original construction.

Also, the posts are embedded into a section of cement that looks newer than the stuff behind it.

Who knows?  I'd love to see pics of my house in its early days.

Many things can be done without a building permit if you are discreet and the neighbors don't rat you out.  I've built 10x12 barn sheds, large decks, even repaired septic system pipes.

I don't recommend it but some people find that the risk is minimal.  In Massachusetts it took them 15 years to discover that I had a shed, and then they raised my property taxes because I had an "out building".

If you ever want to sell your house, it could be problematic.

And certainly you don't want to put up anything without a permit in the front.

Best to keep all that stuff in the backyard out of sight.

I would do something like a deck or even a small canopy like Thor was talking about, but I don't think I'd do anything major.

Plus, of there was eve an issue with damage or liability, your insurance company might refuse to pay.

That's a good point with the liability/insurance company issue.

As for issues with selling the home, those can be negotiable.  The home inspector pointed out a number of things that were not "up to code" on my Florida home.  The owner fixed some and I waived the others.  If a buyer really wants a house, he'll bend.

I'm selling my home, but I have to replace some fascia board around the house.  The new owner is getting a VA loan, and the VA requires dry rot to be repaired prior to closing.  If it wasn't for this VA rule, I'd just negotiate it away.

I'm gonna have someone do it.  It's gonna be a pain in the ass, nevertheless.  I'm gonna see if the guy can deliver the lumber so I can paint it beforehand.  I don't think he does painting, and it's along the second story of the house where I will not go.

This house had rotted fascia on the second story too.  The owner paid a handyman to fix it.

Yes, Government-type loans can have some picky conditions attached.

The new one....well it's exactly like the old one.
For Gods sakes, update the script! Only thing that was updated was the price.

You can literally take the voices (especially whiny woman) of the ad 10+ years ago and dub it into the new one.

I have wondered for a while if this one made the list here. Glad to see it did. I agree with all of the comments made thus far, and have my own slant to add.

What has annoyed the hell out of me is the "tone" of the delivery and appearance of these actors. To me it seems like this was produced by CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network). It's like any moment she's going to say "Oh, what a beautiful day the Lord has blessed us with today. Let's all offer our praise in the holy shade of a retractable awning."
The dress and verbal delivery are so "conservative" (not strictly politically speaking) it makes me nauseous!

Yeah, they do have that Christian thing going on. The previous couple was downright Mormon.

What's kind fun, though, is that the newer woman was once in a commercial for vibrators. From iSpot:

At least her next acting career move didn't involve porn.

I wonder if she uses one of the single shaft models or the dual shaft.

She looks like a "dual shaft" kinda gal to me. Evil Smile

Maybe even on the back porch underneath her Sunsetter. LOL

The original ad started airing in 2008? Many people swear the ad aired in the late 90's. You could tell how old the original ad was because it aired in SD. Is the updated ad in HD?

I have to thank TNIP for cranking up this old thread.  You just never know where it might go! LOL

They had to update the ad in order to show the requisite number of pearly whites. Without audio, many commercials look like they're advertising toothpaste!

^ "Sex Toys - 50 Percent Off" might go well with "Barefoot Dreams - California Style." (The latter not to be confused with the beaches crowded with unmasked morons dismissing COVID as an urban legend, aka "Barefaced Nightmares...")

I see you have DISH and you're in a market where Scripps has been in a dispute for a few weeks now.
