The Internet Archive is being sued by big book publishers, accusing them piracy of over 1 million books.

I have mixed feelings this. I understand the publishers positioning on this, but if the Internet Archive  goes out of business, it's going to be a big loss, as there's so many things to find on there.

Move it all to overseas servers where our civil court system has no power.

Then screw 'em all.

I've heard there are some sites similar to the Internet Archive that are overseas that some archivists are using where copyrighted material is allowed.

Do you believe these publishers are hurting for money right now?

I wouldn't even hazard a guess, but if I did, I would guess that it's just the same old garden variety greed that has always driven corporate interests.

The only things I've gone there for have been old versions of CIH and Fat Chicks in Party Hats. And it's always been too much hassle and too little payback. So f*ck 'em.

I think the Wayback Machine is part of the Internet Archive.

From the Wikipedia page for Internet Archive:

The Internet Archive allows the public to upload and download digital material to its data cluster, but the bulk of its data is collected automatically by its web crawlers, which work to preserve as much of the public web as possible. Its web archive, the Wayback Machine, contains hundreds of billions of web captures.[notes 4][6] The Archive also oversees one of the world's largest book digitization projects.

They got troubles.

Right here in River City.

Well it starts with T and that rhymes with P and it stands for POOL.

The Internet Archive caved into pressure and shut down the free E-book program to avoid a lawsuit.
