aka Ron posted a pic of his booty (his Xmas loot not his ass, thank God) but so far, nobody else has.

Ol' Jimbo, being the lonesome old fart that he is, living alone here in the man cave with no more family left (that I keep in touch with, anyway) and no more living friends to exchange gifts with, has to rely upon hizzown seff to get him a present.

Anyhoo... I've been wanting to get meself a telescope for years. My original wish was to get one of those big tube, wide aperture reflector or Cassegrain type scopes. But since I've gotten older and have become more aware of the accumulating junk in my house that's making it harder and harder to find places to keep it, plus the fact that those things tend to be quite a bit more expensive than standard refractor type scopes, I decided to compromise and get a smaller refractor type.

Ordered it from Walmart last night.

Meade 70mm

It's got a lot of good customer reviews and I've seen some video of images seen through it.

The image won't be quite as bright and clear as a large aperture reflector, but there won't be any issues with the mirror adjustment and besides, I won't be using it all that often anyway.

For $74.99 + tax and free shipping, it will do just fine.

I spy on the ice hole fisherman with my binoculars. They better keep it in their pants! Last year, some f*ck was on my property, pissing behind the Juniper tree.  I'll report those ice slobs! Not a new news story!

Jimbo, you might be able to catch the next spacecraft disaster!

Telescopes aren't very good for viewing fast moving objects.

A good pair of high powered binoculars would be better for viewing space launches but it seems like every time one goes up, there are thick banks of clouds obscuring most of it.

And I don't much feel like driving an hour over to the coast to get a closer look.

Seen so many of them growing up, the most effort I'm willing to put into it now, is getting up and going into the backyard.

Um... very little. Beloveds packages went missing so I got Santa socks and a shirt.

But that's all good. I don't need gifts to make me feel special. The day spent with family and my beloved was all I needed.

Ps Amazon better deliver that sh*t stat!   (Just kidding).

A nice red Hyundai Sonata.....I also funded a major remodelling construction job as a gift for my wife. She wanted our enclosed front porch to be upgraded (it was rather expensive, but seeing her smile was worth it)

I gave (a lot) more than I got (15 presents vs 4 total from 4 people), so next year I'm setting a spending limit of $10 per person (still twice what they spent.)  I've got a whole year to buy cheap crap for people... Big smile

^ Put those people on the 'naughty' list!

I'm kinda lucky there. I have not attended the Christmas party in two years, yet I still get presents.

Probably because I've done some good things for my MIL and my wife's daughters in the past.

Hand made knit scarf
Summer sausage
Winter socks
Fleece blanket

Blink cameras for the house. Amazon had a 3-pack on sale during cyber week, and they came with a free Echo Dot. We wanted the cameras for security and to see what the dog does while we're gone, but have zero interest in Alexa listening to and recording our conversations.

Target had the Dot on sale for 25 bucks on the 31st, so we figured we'd try and return it there (since they sell them there) expecting to get the no-receipt maximum return of whatever their lowest sale price in the form of store credit.

They gave us 50 bucks for it! So we shopped their Christmas clearance.

Technically we also got some Hickory Farms summer sausage and cheese sets, a bunch of boxed Christmas cards, some candy, trail mix, and a new bathroom scale for Christmas.

Thumbs Up

I received a lidded plastic Santa Clause cup with a straw, a SpongeBob SquarePants sweatshirt, and a SpongeBob SquarePants "Lost at Sea" DVD. Big smile
